This is without a doubt one of the most honest, well written and acted lesbian storylines I've ever seen. I can't believe this existed in the early 00s and it's never mentioned? It should be an important part of lesbian media history, they were treated as another couple not just the token gay story, I'm so overwhelmed. I'd like to thank Evan Rachel Wood for this, she always gives herself completely to her performance since she was a kid, she's phenomenal.

@@jalbertking5170 i get what you're saying, but a lot of shows that featured gay storylines have not aged well. and most stories weren't this well developed either, they still aren't. this relationship was around a year in the making, unlike most stories and characters that were very stereotypical (like will and grace). more often than not they were side characters you only saw once and their sexuality was their only personality trait. also, ellen's show was cancelled right after she came out, i can't really put into words how devastating that was for someone who was just figuring themselves out. there's a vulnerability to this story that's pretty rare in representation still. and there's a reason why this show was cancelled, this storyline was one of them, mostly because they were so young, a lot of people had an issue with that. i remember the disappointment of that, and knowing it would happen again. stories like this are more accepted now, thankfully, i don't worry as much anymore that a show is going to get cancelled the minute a gay storyline is introduced.

Haha we both were each others first girlfriends, so we didnt really know....how to act or what to do around each other. I just remember a lot of silence. And intense stares. She has these big greenish blue eyes and id get lost in them. It was like we spoke without even speaking to each other. I remember standing in her room leaning and against her wall and she was on her bed and she asked, "are you okay?" And i looked at her and then looked down embarrassed and she got up, walked over to me, and with those big green eyes looked straight into my soul and said, "its okay, im scared too..." Im 28. Its been well over a decade. Ill never forget her. There was something just so...mesmerizing about her. This movie brought back fond memories of a person who til this day has a special place in my heart. :) and she has a piece of mine, and its hers to keep.

About the first page of the letter that Katie gives to Jessie ,what I could managed... "Dear Jessie... I... this letter because it seems like...but i´m not sure forgive me but i can´t think of why and i think you should tell me because...if you are my (friend?) maybe things are so (weird/hard). And maybe this is because of me and I don´t know maybe its because of everything and if it´s .. I really sorry for even getting this... see,the... i want to cry is.... " (following there is a part that is crossed out that said "because i think about us". Then i can managed "miss you") And i just got blind for so much ZOOM *_* Sorry for my english

God the interaction with her mom makes me so emotional because if I could’ve had a talk similar with my mom about how boys didn’t spark anything within me, I’d have done it. Although it wasn’t really an option on the table.

I really like the series, is so beautiful and so sweet :3 Today, it is difficult to find this love. Where gradually they fall in love and the relationship really works. And above all, that the family accepts it, this is very complicated, most people do not accepts it. Most people are homophobic, and I understand that they do not share the belief of same-sex love, but at least should respect :( Remember: "Respect the rights of others is peace"

Is no one catching the part at 12:09 Katie is basically confessing to her how weird she feels all the time. How different she feels. She wants a reason an explanation to how “totally weird she feels” she feels unnormal. She’s basically telling her how she feels so different and strange... do u guys think she’s referring to how she’s gay. I wish Jessie would’ve caught that
@tundraillustration3 жыл бұрын
I agree. Especially when she says that what's wrong with her is not visible.
@wikiwiki398 Жыл бұрын
Idk because according to grace the whole school knows katies is gay and don’t bully for that since she’s popular. It might be because of her relationship with her mom and hidden struggles

This show is precious. Not only it made me fall in love for Evan Rachel Woods but also made me be a big fan of Billie Holiday. And I watched Lost and Delirious to many times to count. Mischa was amazing and the movie is to tear your eyes off 😭❤

Almost 20 years later, and i´m still here, i was so little when i watched it. I had a huge crush on Rachel, and i still have! She is such a great actress. My babe Mischa, after this show made O.C, and i was so happy to see her again, and playing a bissexual character there too!

I haven't seen any of O&A in 15 years, and watching this brought back how good it was. It was constantly on the verge of cancellation, despite the acclaim and awards. We were very lucky to get three seasons. I was most interested in the stories of the adult characters (Lily, Rick, Karen, Judy, and even Jake), but Evan Rachel Wood was such a precocious talent. The other young actors in the edit above are great as well. What I had remembered most through the years (briefly touched on in the edit) was Susanna Thompson's portrayal of Karen's depression, and then recovery from the accident. It's so cool to me to find out that another story that was going on at the same time stayed with others the same way. Every character on O&A was written and acted with sensitivity and fullness. It was proof that great dramas had not ALL gone to cable by 1999-2002. A shame not enough people were watching one of the few good ones left.

I have never been more connected to television show characters. As a bisexual individual, this makes my heart so full and warm, and I know that sounds stupid, but it's true. I just can't seem to stop thinking about them.

I genuinely believe around the turn of the millenium, was the peak time for emotionally involving storylines, with real heart. Directors and writers really seemed to know how to play things then

this video is really close to me and I rewatch it from time to time if I get the chance, it's like youtube just shows this on my recommended, and that's a sign for me to rewatch. I really think that this storyline is beyond it's years. jessie and katie were portrayed perfectly, it just shows the innocent and bittersweet feeling of experiencing love with a girl as a girl at a young age. their love is so raw and innocent and I'm really glad we have this type of representation in this media ❤
