As a new 7 month old Virgin to smoking. I have fallen across your videos. I am attempting to learn and understand this hobby. Quiting vaping today and holding strong with this pipe smoking as my one and only nicotine hobby. Thank you for your commitment to the hobby for me to watch later down the line

Very nice!! I really enjoy your channel!! Unfortunaly C&D is not available in the Netherlands. 4th Gen 1897 is my everyday morning tobacco. Love it. Smoking it for many years and when the 1897 has dried out (it can happen when you storage it for a couple of years), I don't moisten the tobacco with water but with a little Amaretto. Half or 3/4 of a bottle cap is enough. And let it rest for a couple of weeks.. It sounds crazy but trust me! It works! It`s a trick I learned from a man who owns a tobacco-store. Ofcourse not all pipetobacco`s can be moistened with amaretto. But for the 4th Gen 1897 , Peterson Sunset Breeze and Peterson Founders Choice (what is actually the St. Patricksday 2017 ) it works fine and also for some aromatic tobacco`s with a chocolate, vanilla flavor. The amaretto doesn't affect the taste but brings out the natural flavors such as chocolate and vanilla. But you have to let it rest for a couple of weeks our and sometimes a little longer. And the Troost. ( not Troest...;) ) It is Dutch and means: Comfort or ease.. Greetings from the Netherlands.

Looks like a nice assortment. I'll get there one day. I've only been in this Hobbie for about three years but I can tell this hobbie is very addictive as in wanting to buy more pipes an buy different tabbacos.

Nice stuff you have saved up. I like your sentimental cans- that is part of what drew me to the hobby. I have the Gettysburg from Brigadier Black, but haven't opened it. Thanks for sharing.

Nice stash! I've been keeping all my old tins for some reason, not that I have a bunch, but they're hard to toss out. I can understand how you'd like that original Borkum Riff tin back. I might find some small clock kits to stick to the lids some day for a craft project.
@OnceUponAPipe7 жыл бұрын
Oh man! I have the same feeling- I just can't toss out my tins after I use them. I have no idea what I'll do with them but just can't toss them in the recycling bin. Maybe I'll gradually start transferring my tobacco in ziploc bags to my empty tins as they come available. Thanks for watching!

Do you smoke certain blends with certain pipes?

I want to try the molto dolce. I really liked maple street and blend #5. Pal o mine and tastd of summer sound good being a peachy blend. take care my friend
@OnceUponAPipe7 жыл бұрын
The Peter Stokkebye Peaches and Cream is definitely my preference over the Pal-O-Mine. The Pal is really really strong in the tin as well as when lit, but it still lights well. The Stokkebye is more of a true peaches & cream IMHO. :-)

Do you open a tin and smoke the whole thing before going to the next one, or do you open multiple and smoke whatever you feel like smoking?

Nice collection! A lot of aromatics I noticed…. Great perspective, thanks for sharing!
@OnceUponAPipe7 жыл бұрын
Thank you. My non-aromatics/English blend are slowly catching up. I'm enjoying them both but must admit that the HH 10 to midnight is one of the absolute cleanest, smoothest blends I've had. (Of course I still have a couple hundred more to try.) Also, some of the Frog Morton blends are pretty clean.

I love Burley Flake #1 by C&D. Do you leave the tobacco in when you open or do you put straight in a jar? I find i just leave in the cannisters and if needed add one of those clay discs. Thanks for sharing!

I'v got to get me one of thos, on my budget cheap pipes is welcome, besides I tend to like the cheaper ones the best judging by looks for some reason (:

And I will remember the ten to midnight. Was the troost tobacco the troost cavendish?
@OnceUponAPipe7 жыл бұрын
It was Troost Aromatic Cavendish. Seems to get mixed reviews but the bowl I had was surprisingly nice. Only did one bowl for the pipe journal but assume it would be consistent if I tried it again. And thanks for the tips on the other English blends. Will definitely be looking into them.
