Not too far in and wow is this discussion so much better and more nuanced than all the other blind repetitive hate that this film seems to get

I saw Phantom Menace when it came out in theaters three days before it was released in America for like a special screening. It was extra special for me because May 16 is my birthday and I turned 5 and saw it with my older brother who was able to get tickets and it was amazing. Having already watched the Original Trilogy on VHS and loving those films, this being my first Star Wars film to see in the theater is something I will never forget. The politics never bothered me either and even as I’ve gotten older, they’re fine as those scenes are instrumental regarding how Palpatine is manipulating the system and eventually becomes in charge of Galaxy. This is an awesome podcast man, thank you for this and it’s nice to hear more people being open about enjoying The Phantom Menace and prequels as a whole. George Lucas’s 6 film saga is one of the greatest stories ever made and the many influences he used to inspire him are truly amazing. Those serials are great and I recommend anyone who likes Star Wars watch Flash Gordon and Buck Rogers from the 1930s as well as The Searchers and Hidden Fortress, both films influence are very obvious when watching A New Hope. Keep up the great work and take care!
