My god?! Dr. Birnbaumer has a gift! Thank you so much for distilling down such an intimidating topic for my self. I honestly, feel much more confident going in to some of these pt rooms armed with this straight forward; what to look for in the onc pt. Bless you for sharing this!!

I went into the ER with a 7-day SVC syndrome, and they were so rude to me that it was not an Emergency! I told them I did not know what it was, but if it were a Cold, a Flu, or Mosquitoes, I am certain they can help! They finally jacked me full of Fluids (Wrong Move), and sent me home to contend with my Oncologist at my 15-day SVC syndrome.. he was so mad at me! I insisted a Stent be placed, but I was just ready to step up to Radiation and my Mass was central, and it was pressuring the heart-space portion of the Vena Cava. What a mess, that and some Steroids I guess helped, as I did my Radiation. It finally subsided and I am now Human again...aside from my next Trial that began. Small Cell, very Aggressive. Such Fun! I feel bad for the ER folks, they are overworked and not thinking clearly with Oncological needs. Family Medicine is just as bad! I stick with my Oncology Staff! I do, and the Pharmacy, and Thank the Lord for a Port...no needles go into me, never, not even in the ER, they can call the OR and get me a Line placed onto my Port...it is my Port, it is my friend.

No, no, she needs a break, she brought herself into the ER! Do something like give her a room, a clean room, and let it be on an Oncology Floor, so she may be Treated with Dignity, even but for a Day! Hooray!

Doctors fail to recognize Sick-House Syndrome, ...anyone with Cancer will attest to the lack of ability to clean the House, and given the nature of the Care-Providers, that is not a Guarantee! A Crisis is when an Individual takes themselves into an ER, seeking Help, and finding themselves sent into the environmental Hazard they came out of. Truly! This is why Time must be Provided to Access a better way, and it is so easy of a solution other than Sending someone Home!

Every Thermometer I get at the Pharmacy reveals me at around 97 degrees, and it never moves....and so I suspect that 98.6 is a bit too much, if I do my Math to correct the problem....Right? Or, am I just a cold hearted person? LOL I never check anymore, I would know a Fever without a tube in my mouth. They just want the Number, and with me, my Body will hide things too, just like the Doctor does!

What's wrong with her....Lymphoma, she has Cancer! LOL I agree on the Blood Work, nothing can be done unless you review it every time! Even then, the Drug itself (Chemo) can effect these numbers, and that too can be Adjusted. Yeah,, throw that lady inpatient right away! Get her though this! She will feel better!
