We dug through our archives to bring you this amazing video. Nelson Mandela gave ITN his very first TV interview back in 1961, three years before he was jailed. See what he had to say while he was in hiding, and tell us what you think! This is definitely one to share. #nelsonmandela #mandela #southafrica #apartheid #history #madiba #firsttvinterview Subscribe to the ITN News channel on KZbin: bit.ly/itnytsub

It’s so messed up that this brilliant man was viewed as a dangerous criminal. All he wanted was freedom and full autonomy for the lives of his people. It’s a crying shame that he was jailed.

Such is the case with all those who choose to engage in defensive violence against oppression when all nonviolent methods have been exhausted. The oppressor will say anything to prevent the overthrow of their systems.

But peace cost him and millions of Africans 30 years of suffering after this interview. Listen to the condescending talk of this interviewer. These whites felt invincible and were proud. Backed by the USA and UK, the phony minority government helped the West get rich off millions of poor black labour.
