It's funny to look at this from an eastern EU perspective, here in Poland the equivalent of 17.500 NOK would be a wage considered good and wayyy above the average, perhaps even luxurious.

He also says that he doesn't have an education, and that will not add to your salary. It should however be noted that people in Finnmark are paying less in tax, BUT nevertheless, 17500 is not much to get a home and raise a family with.

I get around 18000kr a month, with the job I do. Fortunately I enjoy it and would not trade it for anything. I know I could make at least 25-30k without education but I would rather be "poor" than live a life of regret.
