So it really is very important for us to strive to get the true sense of teteleskai through the obfuscation of translation from Greek to English. "It is finished" doesn't really half convey the meaning. Suppose we think of "exhaustively executed to thoroughgoing completion". Well, that's a bit wordy and pretentious sounding, isn't it. So, how about, "sho'nuff wrapped up"? Now I don't mean to trivialize this. I just think we need to stretch to think outside of our linguistic box to really lay hold of what God is telling us.

If Jesus' crucifixion points to Yom Kippur, then why wasn't he crucified on the Day of Atonement? The only blood used on the Day of Atonement is the blood of a bull, and a goat to purify the Tabernacle and accoutrements of the ceremony "from the impurities of the sons of Israel"--not to purify the sons of Israel themselves. (Lev. 16:19) If you want the blood of a lamb, then look at Passover--which (Can it be?) was when the crucifixion/resurrection actually occurred. But you don't like Passover because that's just a story about how God rescues people from death with the blood of a lamb; i.e., there's no wrathful God of vengeance to scare the hell out of people. Preach love not fear.
