Took a long time to actually find this circuit. Considering it's very common application, is not that good. So well done for this article.

@Kasyan TV The English terms most of people are searching for with this kind of circuit are "Soft Switch" "Latching Switch" "Latching Button" and "Push On Push Off" I know I have searched for and built several variants of these circuits for my own projects. Thanks for sharing. I know it can be challenging to figure out exactly what words people will be searching for in another language. It doesn't matter to me if you use my suggestions, but if you add these words to the title, description, and KZbin key words it will really help people find this upload in the future ;) -Jake

I am re-purposing LED lights from a broken screen LED TV and will use two 6V LED's to replace a stereo-microscope stock light where the lamp is missing. From a string of UV LED lights, I cut three LED's off to use for UV inspection. Both will use a 12V source. The latching switches I have are large and I need to see how this will fit since I have plenty of really small momentary contact switches like this from old free broken TV's. I think I can scavenge the boards stock for the other components also. I'm still debating if I want two separate latching switches or one latching (cool white LED) and the other momentary (UV). Have to see how this design fits. Thanks for sharing!

Removed the LED and associated Resistor and the output from the Collector on the second NPN works well on digital pins on the Arduino. I did find it interesting the using a logic probe on this same output kept the output low all the time.

We usually call a switch “without fixation” a momentary switch. It is only active for the moment you push it. It automatically returns to the previous state when released. Momentary switches can close when you press them (“momentary; normal open”) or when you release them (“momentary; normal closed”).
@johnbrewer98336 жыл бұрын
That is a very clear description. Normal open and normal closed often cause confuion

For NPN transistor, connect load at points 1.collector > +ve of LED, 2. Ground > -ve of LEC 3. CONNECT a button to base with a resistor to +ve of battery. You have made yourself an inverter / NOT gate. For PNP, connect load in series with transistor, and connect a button at base to ground. And also connect +ve supply to base via resistance. It works same as above NPN ckt. But much simpler.

this circuit is for low voltage DC. I'm assuming your heater is powered with AC and that is going to add components

Aлександр my idea was to use power supply to power the pushbutton circuit and connect a relay to turn on the heater . Second please add standby led which will go off when the output goes high so as when one uses the circuit to turn on an appliance can see weather the device is connected to the mains correctly

use the second version with tip42 (or use another bc557 instead). the first version act like a "active low" circuit, as positive stay on and negative pulse come in when you turn on (it´s amazing because can drive relay modules for arduino without arduino), and the version with tip42 are a "active high" version (when you press the button, negative stay on and positive take control). Try use diode on relay if it need and check que output version with multimeter to see the working circuit

Simple is using a 555 timer to do the same thing. Or just a latching switch that doesn't use any power at all.
@vml13175 жыл бұрын
electronic latch switch are a savior. some special and automation circuits demand a electronic latch switch because they need command for ex: to turn off by power and when circuit come back, that switch cannot turn on again or will destroy everything. even to turn off and then turn on by the own circuit to make automation without programming too much.. i need a switch like this and this work great. 555 destroy my like with inferferences even making a shield and decoupling capacitors, and destroy a expensive work of mine because they start work by theirselfes
