I love how over the course of the three seasons the mutual respect between Al and Wu slowly grew into mutual affection. It was so cute in the movie when Wu realized that Al was becoming sick with age and gave him the special tea to try to make him feel better.

Wu doesn't have "serious" weight... as demonstrated when Hearst brings in the actual heavy hitters from San Francisco with the Tongs. Hearst ends up letting the Chinese "problem" solve itself & by extension Hearst is the one whose presence/acceptance is what holds the Tong retribution at bay.

Didn't Al send 'help' over to Wu in dealing with the Tongs? It took a lot of work, but people could cool buildings thousands of years ago. In Persia or somewhere, they had cone shaped clay huts with a spiral ramp running all down the sides. You pay workers to carry water to the top and pour it on the clay, where it trickles down and evaporates, removing heat from the walls.

Can you imagine every time that Asian guy goes out for dinner, inevitably somebody yells, “Cocksucker!” At first he and his wife would smile, appreciating the humor and recognition, but after a while, maybe when he’s out with his parents and family - not too sure his wife would consider it an endearment. But it would be kinda funny. Have to admit, if I ever met him on the golf course, I’d have to say it…

This show seems a bit homophobic in its language. They should have had a few gay men characters to offset this

There's a difference in being homophobic in its language and homophobic in its intent. I don't think we should whitewash homophobic language from historical dramas to appeal to modern sensibilities. And there are at least three gay characters, Jane, Jodie, and Bellegard -- and it is strongly implied Eddie is interested in young men.

Yeah, I'm sure many degenerates would like to see explicit man on man action in every show they watch. Maybe the thought of other people seeing it even turns them on too.
