Britney, You and I have recently spoken about this very thing and it is a topic near and dear to my heart. I love that you are speaking out to perspectives held on both sides and agree with so much in this video. I wanted to highlight the interpretation of the Holy Spirit. For me it's been a MAJOR tool on my journey. I think coming from a Christian backround, investigating Jehova witness' beliefs, and various flavors of spirituality has demanded I listen to the inner voice that says "oh no, that's just not right". I also think it's important that I outline that just because my brother or sister believes different from me, doesn't mean that the Holy Spirit doesn't continue to use them in my life to teach me and to be loved by me. This has been paramount to my belief system and I believe has accelerated my growth so much. This is why, although I fall in total agreement with you and Robert and perspectives offered by Teachers like you, I still appreciate and contimplate teachings of Wapnick, Renard and the FIP school of thought. I look forward to the day of acceptance of all teachings as one of many paths and the day we usher our brothers and sisters to the path that brings them Home quickest. Wow Yes Thank you it really clarified so much for me with different facilitators/teachers and interpretation. I started a little over 3 years ago and I have been frozen out and shut down which now makes sense I study and studied with you and circle of Atonement. Currently doing the text through course companions. Three of my groups only use FIP edition which is fine with me but I resonate and try to live with COA additions and wording. It really helps to see and return to love through all thoughts. I don't want separation if I see things differently. Communication and sharing is key in love. Love you too Greg! I remember us sharing these ideas on our walk in BC...I was nervous to say anything publicly then, I feel more ready and prepared by Spirit to share it boldly now. Amen to the CE being practical and bringing direct communication with J!! I feel that too. With both CE and Sparkly. I've also felt the twangs of anger and confusion with this whole thing...J keeps telling me that the editors thought they were supposed to do that. They thought they were "right"...but it was really a case of "not asking/ assuming" ....and in that state no one will know what the "right" thing is to do. Hence why there is no room for anything but forgiveness for they "knew not what they did".... And yasssss our first step is to acknowledge the beautiful creation of God standing right before us. That is indeed what it is all about

I ran across a version of the difference in the course community. The idea was in an article on forgiveness from FFIP. It said the process of forgiveness is to recognize when you are upset. That it is not for the reason you think and it is not in the world outside you. It is in the interpretation or meaning accepted in the mind. The content of the mind being expressed when you are upset is our unconscious guilt,fear, and belief in sin which is always without exceptions the source of every upset.

This is incredibly helpful! I hadn't thought of the "spiritual bypassing" that I was doing as a disassociation, and now I can see (and feel) how that was happening. It's so easy to get into a bad habit of shoving down those negative emotions and putting a positive affirmation over them...I'm grateful that you've shared some practical tips to looking at our attack thoughts and emotions - and a way to move through them into real healing. That is sad to see… It seems so bizarre that someone would turn darkness into illusion only without asking for correction by the Holy spirit. Great video Britney. Very helpful for many no doubt. I've been somewhat aware of there being variations in perspective with certain Course teachings/concepts but i guess for myself I've taken what resonates for me with certain teachers and let be what doesn't. I didnt realize it was such a big divide .. not something I've paid attention to. Those teachers i have felt called to listen to (and that shifts and changes as i journey along) are stepping stones on my path of awakening, unwinding and healing. If your practicing the Course, Trusting His Word(Jesus)should be a no brainer and his statement " All things work for Good", should release you from Judging another Brothers/Sister level of Learning. I started in 2009, with the FIP, and when ready was guided to the Urtext, it was the perfect fit for me at the start, and after constant practice leading to expansion, I was then ready for the Urtext. I am grateful to all, and indeed my greatest teachers in the dream with Jesus coming through are Brothers/Sisters the world terms as not Spiritual 😅, but who I affectionately call the Christ Community ❤. Britney, thanks for the information. I knew some people followed the FIP edition and some follow the sparkly edition, but I was not aware the divide between the two. Earlier this year I joined another Course in Miracles Facebook group. After 3 weeks of just not fitting in, I dropped out of the group. I just didn't understand their perspective. After watching your video, I now understand why it was not a good fit for me.

I think Ken’s influence over the early course community/ies must have been immense. I recently treated myself to one of the first printed editions of the course (i.e., the original 5000 sold out of the Beresford). On the inside page, someone has written (in pen) ‘by Kenneth Wapnick’. I wonder if people thought he was the scribe/author back then? Given that Bill and Helen hid, I guess he would have been one of the only public faces.

Yes...his influence was absolutely immense. He would tell people his way of teaching is not his interpretation...but fact. And everyone else is interpretation. I'm not surprised many thought he was the author of it. Is it possible for you to send me a picture of Ken's name written in the book?? You can email me here...I'm trying to gather as much research as possible: [e-mail]. Also...Bill never hid. He worked miracles in his everyday relationships. He just knew he was NOT supposed to be a guru or others idol and did everything in his power to be seen as the same as others. So he didn't take on a formal teaching role but he did do what Jesus tells us to do which is "to demonstrate as tho we are not ego". Bill lived the Course brilliantly and by the end of his life was in perfect peace and joy. Much of which is captured in Carol Howes book Forget not to laugh. (And many other places that Ken didn't let be published but of which I have found/been given) also...Helen did step back...much to the influence of Ken to be honest. From what I read Ken was trying to protect the final version that Helen approved that was released by FIP since she was the scribe and they released the final version that had been flushed out to its final edited version and she approved. It would make sense that she would want to check and double check that it all made sense and she did not make any mistakes writing down what she maybe initially thought Jesus said or she initially misinterpreted it. So since she was no longer alive, she wouldn't want all these unedited, unfinished versions out there. If she approved the FIP version, that was her final word on the course. Like in the approved version the word soul was left out or changed. Maybe she thought she messed up initially and misunderstood Jesus and talked to him again and he told her to fix it and change it. But I plan on reading all versions at some point because it's interesting.

Thank you for sharing what you read. You are correct that this is the most widely shared and believed version of the history of the Course. This is not the whole story of it though. There is a whole other side of its history that has been hidden from the public. Through miracles and divine guidance I have been led to the right people and research and material to help shine light on the truth behind matters. I am of the heart to believe Jesus is in charge of the Course and He will lead its coming into the world and to whom it is meant for, not Helen. And Jesus clearly had the plan of freeing ACIM from copyright, as that is what happened. So we have many versions because of miracles, not mistakes. Two thoughts come to mind.. First is what is called 'level confusion' which is the biggest source of misunderstanding hands down and second that when material was edited out of the Course it was done with Helen and not after the book was published.

The editing role was Bill's given him by Jesus. When Ken came in in 1973 the Course wad complete but Ken still edited over 25,000 words (about 5 chapters / the size of a small book). Ken edited the book to fit HIS perspective of it, instead of him changing his mind and receiving Christ's perspective on the Course. Helen told us over 5 times that she was a "fierce editor" and should not be left in charge of the editing because she wanted to delete "Just about everything". So Ken and Helen did not edit with Jesus but without him... that's why we have so many other versions of the Course today....to correct the errors in editing that were made by Ken and Helen. I am new to the Course In Miracles. I still do not understand the division and beliefs of the two sides. Did Jesus dictate the Course to Helen Schucman or did Jesus inspire the Course and it came from Helen? I have heard Kenneth Wapnick state, in several videos and one audio recording, that he believes in the latter view. Maybe I'm wrong, but if Jesus actually dictated the Course to Helen, then it is a Holy book and is not to be messed with, i.e. edited. So, my question is, Did Jesus actually dictate the Course to Helen? Is the Course written by Jesus and scribed or written down by Helen?

That said, I would prefer not to have to pay a fee, to see your video. Kenneth Wapnick appears to have entered a lot of controversy and uncertainty into ACIM and I don't understand why. He was the primary driving force for the editing of ACIM, the copyright issue, as well as the definition of ACIM being inspired or disctated by Jesus. I have nothing against him. I don't know him. If ACIM was just inspired, then all of his actions are the correct ones; However, the opposite is true if the Course was dictated.

It IS a holy book to me, and meant to be given./available to all. And I hear you about Ken. Ken didn't get dragged into controversy tho ..he started it himself. He did a lot of editing...but he not only edited it, he deleted and changed over 45,000 words, which is the size of a small book. He also told everyone they barely edited at all which turned out to be a lie when earlier versions were found. Then he covered up that lie with more lies like "Helen chose the form"....which is not true but justifies to him why he 'needed' to edit. His role was Not to edit the Course tho...that was Bill's job given him by Jesus. Ken self elected himself editor....and in the process...he sued dozens of course students and teachers to keep his edits and perspectives on the Course in tact while silencing others.. Hence why I am doing this documentary. There is soooo much that people don't know about this ....and so much confusion around it all too. Lastly...in short. Helen was a Scribe. That's what Jesus called her. That was her role. She listened to Jesus' voice and wrote what she heard. That's it. Helen did NOT write the Course or choose words...it had nothing to do with Helen. ACIM is from the Christ Mind of Jesus TO the Christ Mind in us. It is holy book. And I have proof beyond proof that it is so. In doing so, if I received an answer, it proved the existence of the Holy Spirit and I would know the answer to my question. I received an answer. Hi Britney, thank you for your work and I appreciate your enthusiasm for sharing ACIM and for helping to heal the obvious rift in the community. That said, with these kinds of things, it's very important to adequately and accurately represent the other side of things. Let me give but one example of what I see here in this video... You acknowledged that you did not read The Circle of Atonement book in question (One Course, Two Visions), yet you made a video based upon it. I would think you would have at least first read that book before you made the video, and then spoke to some of the more pertinent issues that the book brings up. And even if you had read that book and brought some of its points into the discussion, that book itself is problematic in that it also does not do justice to Ken Wapnick's views, but tends to present a "straw man" of Ken's presentation of ACIM. So what I would recommend is to spend some time really getting to know Ken and his work -- watch his videos, read his books, listen to his interviews. And then you will be more in a place to offer a more impartial and understanding perspective on Ken and this whole situation. As it is right now, I don't sense that you have done the necessary homework to really make the case you are trying to make. And I would challenge anyone here to read Ken's book, The Message of A Course in Miracles (it's on Amazon). In that book, Ken actually brings up all of the very same points that you are making here and elsewhere about the "dangers" of using ACIM for anything other than its stated purpose. For example, Ken long cautioned about using the idea of the illusory nature of the world as a way to cop out and say that nothing here matters and to spiritually bypass. He was ever the one to say that Course students can be some of the worse people in regard to using the Course as a way to hide or escape from life and our relationships. Finally, I would like to suggest that rather than seeing Ken as being the one that caused a rift in the ACIM world, perhaps it was not him that ever left the pure teachings of love and forgiveness that he clearly embodied and taught so well. I tend to think it was a bit of a mutiny that occurred. Why? What else could it be than some form of fear that goes back to our ontological fear of losing our separate and special identity? Hello Allowah. I hear you and can promise you I have researched Ken and Robert's work equally for almost 15 years. My words and wisdom come from a very research place, as well as an experiential one. I came into the Course and this community many years after all the drama of the earlier years had ended with the copyright being free'd in the mid 2000's. So I was never part of the conflict, but do still have people reach out to me for help with it, as they still struggle with the remanence of it.... and so I AM part of the correction. With Jesus as my only teacher and guide, we are doing this together. And I trust that His message of the Course is becoming loud and clear for all of us to hear. Can ego use the idea of unity by gathering people and naming themselves the leader and then telling others what to do or intruding on their lives? I've struggled with navigating a relationship where someone wants to be ''family'' with everyone but it is intrusive and often ''bossy'', sort of ''steamrolling'' others ...I don't know if my perception is correct because they do try to ''unite'' people. I am fine being friends with them but I find it a difficult relationship because they don't seem to have any care for others' points of view and just want to be in charge. is there a lesson about this?

Hello! What is the diffrent between Complete and Annotated (CE) edition and the urtext version? Are those the same but diffrent name? Because the description of them sounds very similar to each other

CE is edited from the UR Text. They are similar, but not the same. Ur Text has Helens notes with Jesus in between the text...where as CE has all the added material / notes in a Cameo at the back of the book. CE also has a lot of footnotes that includes references to the bible. CE is far better for study...UR Text is good for curious scholars. I made another video on the different editions. I rally likead the urtext (just started) because its speaks about sex and I haven't found that in other versions. Maybee that is in the original version aswell and sparkling version? I have read the hole text on the fip version but there is was note mentioned. And for me sex is an importen aspekt. Is subject as sex and so on included in the CE version?

Thank you, Britney, for addressing this topic. It saddens me that there is so much conflict in the Course community over this. I don't think Ken Wapnick ever encouraged dissociation, though. He's quoted as saying that if you get injured not to call a Course student who might just tell you that the world is an illusion! And also that if ACIM were summed up succinctly, the message would be "be kind". Also, David Hoffmeister teaches the Levels of Mind method to get the bottom of one's feelings and address them honestly rather than to suppress them. If the spiritual bypassing you describe is practiced by followers of the FIP camp, it is because they are misunderstanding the application of those teachings, not because the teachings themselves are flawed. Ken Wapnick's lawsuit clearly does not fall in line with Course teachings, but neither did Robert Perry's attack on Gary Renard. Ego gets expressed by Course students and teachers on both sides of the equation. My perspective is that suggesting one version of ACIM is true and another is false is to put the emphasis on form over content. The message of forgiveness is central to all versions. P.S. Ella Joy has gotten so big and beautiful!

So well said. Kenneth Wapnick did not encourage dissociation and his teachings are important to me. I was surprised to learn 60,000 words were left out of the FIP edition. I would like to learn more about that. There is obvious ego in play on both sides of this disagreement. I hope the coming documentary which I look forward to is not a hatchet job on Kenneth Wapnick and reflects an accurate description of his teachings. That would be sad as I love Britney's teachings and don't see as much difference between the two sides as others appear to believe. Thank you.

You can read them in the edition published by the Circle of Atonement.

@@terrycole5660 Hey Terry! I promise the upcoming documentary will NOT be a hatchet job on Ken but it WILL show the whole story of what happened and not just its separate parts. I think many people will be mind-blown what Ken did behind the scenes though.... unfortunately :( This documentary will bring each viewer closer to Jesus, closer to forgiveness and closer to each other! @@theresamcgallicher Hey sweet Theresa. Thanks for these comments. Just to clarify, those 60,000 edits, were not just personal material. It was deletions of very important and practical material, there were paragraphs that were moved around and words were changed to different words that mean different things....all of which changed the meaning of many sections in the Course. The personal deletions were made by Bill before Ken came on the scene, as that was Bill's job as given him by Jesus. x

Real world? My understanding is all versions say 'There is no world! This is the central thought the course attempts to teach" . At least the Urtext and FIP both do. And references illusions over 250 times. So I'm not clear any other way to see it that the world is a non-existent illusion and all actions taken in the illusion are magic.

In A Course in Miracles "there is no world" is said 6 times, and yes is included in all books. The Real World is referenced over 98 times (not including the references to 'Happy Dream' or heaven on earth ..which is the same thing). But yes, "there is no world" is a central thought in the course alongside the thought "I am as God created me". Knowing that "there is no world" is meant to be one of the first steps to take OUR meaning off the world but THEN we can see what IS real beyond this world (which is us as Gods Son... and God) and from this REAL perspective we can see a whole new world here (kingdom/real world/happy dream) instead. So knowing that "there is no world" is the first step but THEN we must accept ourselves as God created us, and contribute to the Real World here. When we GIVE to the Real World/ our brothers we WILL see it here. But the giving comes first, as that's the law of God :) This world is an illusion yes, but our job as Gods Sons is to have the illusion reflect heaven and not hell. Which requires an active giving here....of the miracles we want to receive. The extension of miracles (giving) shows us the Real World where we are joined in brotherhood and Gods Purpose and happiness that is here, beyond the world we made up to suffer and separate.

“Take this whole Course or take none at all”-Jesus The Course teaches there is no body at any time. Trying to understand it is making the error real. All discomfort of any kind, including anger, is guilt over the separation. We “forgive” or correct this only. Everything IS an illusion. The real world is perfect oneness. Your brother is YOU. There is only One. Even Jesus is an illusion. One, one, one, one,one………!!! The miracle is seeing this and this only.

When we want controversy we will find it and use it to further our goals. Stop feeding it with attack thoughts. Why use as an example a teacher obviously calling for help to make your point rather than someone like Gary Renard or David Hoffmeister. Allow people to following their understanding and when they ask for help share with kindness your understanding without attacking other understandings. All will make it home with or without our interference, for no one actually left. You obviously do not know or understand who and what Kenneth Wapnick was and still is.

Your response to this video is one of the reasons why I have to share what I am sharing. This side of the history of ACIM I am documenting is not yet seen, only the Ken / Gary / David side is.... You would be surprised if I were to tell you that it was Ken Wapnick who started the controversy I am shining light on. Its a messy situation... The research is telling the story so I don't have to.
