The mark of a good detectorist is taking an average dig and making it interesting and you did that with this one. I enjoyed watching and it made me realize all my digs aren't really failures. Every item found has a history and have some value. Good job, and as always a good video.

Great video buddy. That the way it goes with this hobby I suppose, good days and not so good days but at least you had a fun day and found some things. The item at 15:45 is a caster wheel of an old trolley I think. Love the old bottles, shame about the cracks. GL&HH.

Thanks Kevin. It's always a toss up on these private homes as to what's gonna be there. I think this place may have had a lot of fill dirt brought in decades back. At 2:30 I think that is a saddle strap guide that I think was attached to a saddle for the reins. Looks like you found it's mate as well. That one thing in the second row you said you didn't know what it was is a wheel that would go on the bottom of a dresser or piece of furniture. We usually have the worst luck at places we get real excited about as well, but you guys found some neat stuff. GL and HH....Ron

Hi Jason, I did say to you, don't go with your expectations too high, just treat it as a normal hunt, it happens to us all, me and Terry got a new permission the other day, 500 acres... we where really excited, and it turned out to be full of green waste... it is like very small pieces of melted aluminium...so every few paces we where getting good signals, but it was the aluminium...I managed to get one good find in nearly five hours... a 1550-1700 small snake buckle...it will be in my next vid... At least you had a couple of decent finds, the tear drop mounts looked nice, hope you and yours are keeping well. take care mate GL & HH Tom

Still some interesting finds. Those shotgun shells can be dated. Theres some info online if i find it I'll send it to ya. That glass vile that you found i used to work at wheatons and we made them. Usually for medical purposes. That one piece you thought was sowing related was familiar but cant place it. Thanks for showing the sticker pick. Lookin forward to your give away hh&staysafe

bottle at 15:00 is a morphine bottle, around 1900 and before morphine was over the counter and a lot of people were addicted. It was first used a lot toward the end of he civil war and a lot of vets got hooked and it spread from there. Many over the counter medications were really just snake oil back then but most of them had coke or morphine in them.

So true Jason.... they don't always go as planed.... if they did we all would be rich.... I would have so much gold, silver and old coins off the beach that I would be famous!!! OK maybe not famous but have a lot of stuff in my safe!! Still some nice things. The two oblong things with the holes at each end I think I have heard guys on vids say they are off of horse tack I can't quite remember but I have seen them before!! Take care and GL&HH to you.

+TheSilversniffer I've had unsuccessful hunts before so this one won't rain on my parade too much. Just stung a little because I had really high expectations for this spot. I'm happy with the few pieces I got here though. At least if I put these in my safe I could leave the safe door open and not worry about it! Take care buddy and happy scoopin'!

Thanks Mark. I showed the homeowner what was found and he was happy with us keeping it. There was an arrangement made if certain other things were found but they weren't. This was a long story getting access here. For now, on to the next site and hopefully keep the relic machine a turnin'!

That one clump of metal shaped kind of like a foot is an old steel wheel caster. likely from an old chair. the peg sticking up would slide into a hole with wheel on the bottom. btw logo pic coming soon.

You're right about the caster wheel. I was able to clean it more and there is still the wooden wheel under the crud. I just didn't notice it before, so thanks for the ID help. Glad the logo made it to you and please do send me the pic whenever you can. Take care Byron.

you didn't show in vid., but only on wrap up, 2nd row; a wheel to a chair. I also want a nibbler hat! Hahaha! So far my best finds are a nickel from the 40s and a wheatie from the 20s (can't read the last number on either)
@QuarterHoarder
@QuarterHoarder 7 жыл бұрын
+Gina Gelinas I still think old wheat pennies are cool. Congrats on an early one from '20s! Those '40's nickels could be 35% silver depending on the year so double check yours, 1942-1945 are the good ones. Your ID on that piece was correct. Turned out to be a caster wheel off of something. I'll keep you posted if I hear Nibbler hats are coming to a Target near you! Lol. Take care Gina and thanks for stopping.

cellar hole looks modern, hard to see in the video, but part of it looks like poured concrete. they didn't use poured concrete much other than industrial before about 1900, other parts are mortar and stone so that might be older but the poured stuff is post industrial revolution

I think it was fill dirt when the grounds were redone. Almost all the old finds we did get were from one small section. I think the rest may have had fill dirt put over it back in the 50's or 60's. Still happy with the little bit we did manage to save!

I was hoping to see it too but it wasn't on the surface. The homeowner told me that when he bought the place back in 1970, just the roof was still showing and the rest was buried. All these years later the whole thing is covered now. He thought it was a 1928 Plymouth Model Q Coupe but he doesn''t remember for sure. Oh well...
