That scene in ep.5, when Dexter calls Emma, is incredibly sad and so well acted. The way his voice breaks when he says "unbelievably" makes my heart ache. This actor is really good with emotional scenes, as he proves many times later in the show.

In the show, you only get to see a glimpse of their lives on the same day once a year, so there’s a lot of stuff we don’t get to see. Dex and Em are basically best friends, so they see each other more than once a year. He supported her when she feels low about her career and she’s the only person he can be vulnerable with. I think he’s never had that type of relationship in his life with any female he’s attracted to, so he’s afraid to ruin the friendship. Also, not to excuse his shitty behavior, but he has an avoidant personality. He uses substance abuse to numb his feelings because he can’t deal with his mother’s illness.

I cheered when you said there is going to part 2! Looking forward to seeing your reactions. It's deffo one to watch all the way to the very end. It's so beautifully done and makes you feel every emotion. I was immersed from the beginning and throughout. The leads are amazing. I have never liked remakes, and think most of them tend to not do the original justice. But to me, this show, the way they adapted it is so fucking perfect that it geniunely outdid the original. I felt so so connected to those characters, that the ending absolutely fucking wrecked me. Im so glad yall are watching this, but I also feel so sorry for ur hearts for the upcoming future because of it lol.

This is a more accurate adaptation if you compare it to the movie. The movie isn't really bad but they had to cut out a lot of things because of time restraints. I feel you connect a lot more with the characters in the Netflix version because you spend so much time with them. Also nothing against Anne but that British accent wasn't all the way there.

If you’ve watched normal people it’s like that but continued, consecutive and emotionally developed trauma dumping and unwanted but unnecessarily given emotional baggage(to us the viewers) followed by nonstop chemistry. kinda iffy about the attitude towards how someone should deal with impending grief. not even impending cause he's already grieving his mom who's alive but will surely die and coping with drugs and alcohol. now ofc that's unhealthy for him and toxic for others around him but he's clearly not right in the head at the time and addiction is complicated... he deserves understanding as much as he deserves to be reprimanded yk
