harrystyles His tone, to begin with, is pretty dark if compared to the others but Harry (not that much at the beginning but he matured with years), that's why they are the ones people focus more during the singing only. For people like me, who like to study vocal technique and look for technical singers, it was obvious he was the best technical singer and the one who played with his voice more. It became obvious for everyone when he started to do all the notes variations and adlibs in live shows. Generally talking no one of one direction songs were vocally challenging if compared to other boybands and they also lack of harmonies so as soon Zayn started to do his high notes it was undeniable he was on another level of compared to the others. Funny how after he raised the bar the other boys tried more challenging vocals too
