6-2 split allows to carry 3 loose forwards. Fresh loose forwards influence the game in the final 20 minutes more than backs. They can slow the opposition ball and get quick ball for your team.

Is anybody else concerned about the lack of height for the new batch of loose forwards coming through ie: Sititi 6 ft 2, Lakai 6 ft 1 and Iose 6ft 2? The only newbie who has both height and size is Samipeni Finau at 6ft 5 which makes him a genuine line out target. Has Sotutu really done enough in super rugby to shake off the impression of going missing when the heat comes on in test rugby? Finally should Beauden Barrett be taken aside and thanked for his incredible contribution to the Alblacks and NZ rugby, but told firmly that his time has passed along with his speed off the mark that used to take him away from defenders? Ardie should be captain as an inspirational player who others will follow. Scott Barrett still gets yellow carded too much which is disastrous for a captain as per last World Cup!

It works well if you have to many good forwards to leave out or if you are overcompensating for to many unfit forwards who cannot handle the pace of the international game for long periods. It works fine until you lose a half back, fly half and center all at the same time. But Boks to their own and ABs to their own. I'd be surprised if the ABs went to 6-2. It is possible but, yeah nah. It means we swap out the whole tight 5 and 1 lose or we swap out 4 tight forwards and 2 loose. Possible but yeah nah

I love his mongrel, engine and will to win. I say bring him off the bench (but early enough to make an impact) as he can cover all loosie positions. Watching Sititi as a young 22 year old charging at the current world’s best forward pack he’s the one to mold into the 6 jersey. A lot of people forget that Jerome Kaino (one of the greatest blindside flankers of all time) was doubted in his early days in the black jersey. Hone his defensive mongrel and he’s there already

The question is if Savea is 7 or 8, who would add more value to the back row? Papalii, Sotutu or Jacobson? I'd love to see Jacobson 7 and Papalii at 6, but that compromises the lineout. They have to go specialist 6 for the lineout. So I'd go Papalii 7, Savea 8 and Finau 6.

For the product, like the actual rugby? Yes, probably the most entertaining attacking rugby in the world. For the spectacle? Like the huge crowds, hostile atmospheres, intense rivalry’s? Hard no lol. Super rugby has always sucked at engaging fans, always sucked at promotion and marketing, always sucked at listening to fans and what we want from the actual game day experience. If you’re a rugby purist you will enjoy the rugby though.
