One Fine Sky with Yori Antar: The Conservation of Indonesian Architecture

Gregorius Antar Awal, better known as Yori Antar, is the principal of Han Awal and Partners. He has crowned the Archipelago Architecture Warrior for his efforts in preserving local architectural heritage. Yori graduated from the University of Indonesia and in 1989, he together with his fellow architect friends founded Young Architects of Indonesia (AMI). A group of young talents that were influencing the architecture scene in the country, especially in the capital city, during that period.
He has gained his reputation in the industry since then. Over the years, he has raised awareness on the extinction of local traditional houses and is involved in a number of traditional houses revitalization and renovation projects. In 2008, he initiated a movement called Rumah Asuh as an effort to encourage young talents to take part in preserving traditional houses. Selected university students who join the program get a chance to live and learn from locals before joining the revitalization project in the remote villages.
Despite his busy schedule, Yori took the time to share his journey of rediscovering traditional architecture and how he and his team strive to preserve local heritage together by empowering the indigenous community.

From each purchase, one primary school student in need will receive a set of school uniforms. This uniform consists of a shirt, a pair of pants, or a skirt, a tie and a cap. The brand new uniform is a symbol of encouragement to the students - a confidence boost that will fuel them to continuously move closer to their dreams.
