Patch notes:
Polyamorous collabo between Norns (sequencin'), Eurorack (wobblin'), and Ableton Live (bangin').
I pulled out an old drum pad thing to lay down some beats in Ableton, but my timing was feeling all over the place. I'm not sure how much of that is because the pad sucks vs. latency/sync issues. I haven't done anything with latency/driver error compensation on this new Mac so perhaps that'll help. I thought I may as well lean into it and try a sort of sloppy dub groove with no quantization whatsoever. I can't mix drums for shit but it was a lot of fun to play with. EDIT: just listened to this on YT and something weird happened to the mix when I uploaded. I'm vaguely aware of YT not liking levels slammed so maybe it's that?
On the eurorack, this might be my first time using Disting EX's FM synth?? It's good! The wobbly dub chord/arp is, IIRC, a xylophone voice (LOL) through Mimeophon.
The rude bass noise is Mangrove through Belgrad. I don't understand Mangrove at all. It's good, I think.
I intended to use OTO BAM as an insert on only part of the mix, but never really got around to it. I really need to get MIDI events working again on Dreamsequence to get weird with that reverb.

Yeah! "working with the garage door up" is a lovely way of putting it. I think this sort of working out creative problems in the open is so helpful for not only new folks who want to learn, but also other thinkers who might be working on similar things without knowing it. Generosity in the creative process leads to more developed and more considerate creative cultures in the long run.

I haven’t gone back to listen to it but I’m sure I would agree. I’d probably cut the length in half and try to clean things up it up if I my goal was to make something listenable. Sometimes it’s just nice to jam with abandon!

LOL I had to redo the start like 10+ times because I had to change the pattern on Grid, cue the drum clip in Live with my keyboard, and hit 'freeze' on OTO BAM at just the right time. The weird intro pose was a literal "Dear God, please don't let me fuck this up again" moment 😑
