One was an amazing SINGER/DANCER, and the other was a MUSICIAN/ COMPOSER/ PRODUCER/ ARRANGER/ MUSICAL DIRECTOR OF BANDS/ and lastly, a singer and dancer. Doing concerts with hour long encores, then go play 3 hour sets at some bar in every town on his tours til 3,4,5 o’clock in the morning!! Please stop this comparing of these two greats. mj also wrote many of his own songs too he wasnt able to play loads of instruments to a high level like prince but he was still a great songwriter. He wrote most of his biggest hits including bad, smooth criminal, beat it,billie jean, the girl is mine, liberian girl dirty diana, earth song the way you make me feel etc plus many more. Im sick of this reductive idea that Michael jackson was just a great singer/dancer and that's it, it's just not true he was also a great songwriter and producer. The fact that he couldn't play instruments to a high level but was still able to write and compose great songs completely on his own is extremely impressive. Exactly. I became a live sound engineer by being a Michael Jackson fan. Seeing those ridiculously large crowds & his phenomenal performances opened up my mind to a whole different world. When dj at gigs from time to time i always get Michael Jackson requests. I hardly ever get prince requests lol sorry its just the truth. When mj died the world stopped & he was talked about for 2 years straight by the news stations. They talked about prince for only a few weeks on the news. Prince is nowhere near mj level!

@ccl7983 Nothing but respect for MJ but beat boxing and humming were templates that he had great musicians embellish and add flavor. People like Steve Lukather came up with parts that he didn't get a writer's credit for and Sheila E played percussion and didn't get credit for Don't Stop Til You Get Enough. Eddie Van Halen rearranged Beat It so he could do that amazing guitar solo....Prince would have done all of that by himself.
