In this tennis lesson, I help my student Shamir with his one-handed backhand. Shamir is a 4.5 NTRP level recreational player. He started playing tennis at the age of 18 and has been working very hard to maximize his tennis potential. This is the first time Shamir and I have been on the court together. You might have some similar problems with your backhand and you could use this one-handed backhand tennis lesson to apply the same corrections that I demonstrated with my 4.5 NTRP student.

Damn, Nick! Your technical videos are far superior than other instructor’s videos. This one is truly one of the BEST one hand backhand tutorials to get a professional looking 1-hand backhand. Foot positioning, torso turn, shoulder positioning, dipping shoulder, balls coming at you. Truly a gem! Your student’s backhand is now definitely at 5.0 level. Nick, , your comment on stepping back with the non dominant leg makes so much sense! I have always struggled with down the centre backhands (I play 2hbh) as I felt like I was tripping over my own feet trying to set up in the traditional sense with the lateral step and then stepping into the ball. Can't wait to try this next time onthe court. Really living up to your channel name and by far my favourite tennis channel!

Good lesson. He already had a great follow-through with his hitting-arm. He followed all the way round until his arm couldn't go any further and then flicked the racquet around until his knuckles faced the fence on his righthand side. So many people have this stiff, abbreviated follow-through where they stop themselves from going the whole way.

I am helping my brother who lives in CH and for the last 4 years was giving him tips on all ground strokes. Analyzing his videos, changing things, sending my own BH to see it even in slow motion but I was looking for a video that explains everything I tell him but in a very structured sequence. And here I am .Thank you Nikola, just sent an email to him with your presentation. These are the things was asking him to do, and one more tip the wrist position and action before and after PoC. Thank you again

He seems very experienced, with just a few swings he was able to analyze his students bh and brought several key points to improve. Nice video, indeed us one handers face the same struggles when just learning this stroke. One major issue that needs to be addressed is the back leg recovery rotation to the side. Without this leg moving forward, the non dominate hand feels real awkward when stretching in the opposite direction. In other words, remember to sweep the back leg forward briefly after contact to finish and recover.

the level of detail is crazy...I noticed that every video focuses on foundation and that's key for consistency and building up....as a one backhander is frustrating when there are days when my backhand is on pont and other days i can't even put it in in warmups....definitely checking the other videos to find hidden gems to improve
