I disagree, the kid was trying to do something that obviously wasn't doable through normal gameplay. I'm sure it's possible via glitches, but still.

That is a spectacular point. He thought his kid might have a mental issue. He spent a whole damn hour! 20 minutes would have been a long time climbing up and down trees. But an hour?

I like hearing stories of developers finding bugs but then deciding “eh, just leave it. It doesn’t hurt.” Seems like a good approach both to not add unnecessary work and to have like accidental Easter eggs for players. Keeping those Magnesis and Stasis tricks I think was a good choice

Totally agree. We can choose not to do the ridiculous things and play the game as intended, or we can choose to do ridiculous fun and funny stuff. It really feels like the development of BotW was firing on all cylinders the whole time, major props to that director.

the using a sword to rest while climbing sounded like a good idea, especially if you need to sacrifice that sword to do it. It also could have made climbing easier, that could be troublesome for some of the requirements to overcome those obstacles with getting better stamina or gear, but it also doesn't matter when you can eat your way through it.
@Dreadjaws
@Dreadjaws 2 жыл бұрын
It would absolutely be a godsend during rain time, though.
@nthgth
@nthgth Жыл бұрын
I don't really have an opinion on that sword-sticking mechanic, but I do wish there was a way to mitigate the effects of rain while climbing.
@Dreadjaws
@Dreadjaws Жыл бұрын
@@nthgth There's a trick to the way rain affects your climbing. You can climb several steps before the rain pulls you down or you can jump, but in either case the rain pulls you down the exact amount you'd climb with a jump. The best trick is to climb a few steps and at the last moment do a jump. You will be taken back the length of the jump, but the few steps you climbed will still have made you closer to the ledge. By using this way and provided you have enough stamina you can still climb any surface, it'll just take longer. But man, if we could have done the sword thing I would have gladly sacrifice a bunch of weapons in order to climb even faster.
@nthgth
@nthgth Жыл бұрын
@@Dreadjaws yes, I remember now. That technique is your only hope, and sometimes the rain pulls you down before you get to the jump. Maybe I was just doing it poorly haha (it's been a minute). Yeah, if that sword trick was available I'd probably have kept a few on me specifically to sacrifice in that situation. Maybe in BotW 2.

As a fellow LEFTY like Miamoto himself...it really ticked me off when they changed Link's dominant hand to the right just because of motion controls. 19:08 Slight correction to make. Koji Kondo's recorder sound in Zelda 1 is actually the same as the warp whistle jingle from Super Mario Bros. 3, which he also composed for.
