Fantastic idea using the gutter brush. When I had used it for it's intended purpose, I cut the central twisted wires with a small bolt cutter, as cutting with wire cutters near broke my fingers.

This video was spectacular! Always wanted some proper trees, but it was always either really expensive, or time consuming or just plain ugly. Sometimes all 3! This gives me a ton of ideas and defenetly goes to the saved video folder. Thanks!

Given how difficult and time consuming trees are to make this is a brilliant solution. Probably be a UK shortage on those gutter cleaner things now. For a pre-shaped tree you could just buy a £2 toilet brush. Good side for 28mm/Heroic scale gaming too!

If your woods are more area affect terrain. Instead of sticking them all down on one base give them some individual bases, then make a big area base. Make a few if you want for different woods every game. This allows you to move the trees about while leaving the base in place. So you can march ranked up regiments through, park tanks hull down or even have a giant swirling melee.

Tip for anyone wanting to try this, if you wanna cut those wire brush hedgehog things, just get a big oomphin' bolt cutter. No sense struggling through that stuff with your tiny hobby snips.

Second. Bolt cutters all the way. Found it was not only quicker, but I wasn't bending/damaging the brush any more. I was lazier that the miliput even. I made trunchs out of wooden dowling and texture paint.

Yeah, I found when I used Geek Gaming basing stuff and made the mistake of spray varnishing after it really darkened them and took down the look. Basically it seems all the dust and stuff just soaks up the sealant and stays dark, forever. In that case I just redipped the bases and then shook off the excess. Not really sure how it would work for terrain. Also, now I base my figures after I've varnished them.

I want to get some of this stuff and experiment with them. I'm wondering if a synthetic dye like Rit. Also for a more naturalistic look, cut the bristles like a barber, with the scissors almost parallel. But these are definitely what my nostalgia memory of wargaming trees are. Chunky and bristly

Great stuff! These look ace, real diorama quality imo while still being very much gaming pieces. The perfect combo. Would love to see some videos on older, well used terrain. Like, how terrain has survived years of gaming, what works and what doesnt, maybe how to rescue and repair older pieces. Might be fun to follow up on some of your older terrain and see how it's survived contact with the battlefields :)
