Brilliant and moving version of Lemon’s classic. Stirring vocals and harmonies and impeccable musicianship. A master class in American traditional music. Usually known by the original title “See That My Grave Is Kept Clean” , it was first recorded by BLJ in 1927. Flawless performances.

Man oh man! The Cohen Bros should get ahold of all you for movie soundtracks! Nice camera work too as such great music and you wonder how it comes so amazingly together as I love seeing the miracle in action of what makes a musical phenomenon like this come together. The intricate variations and finger and flat picking so great! Also the voices, wow! I can just tell it comes right from your souls! Spectacular vocals! Thanks to all of you!

Bob Dylan included this on his first album, 1960 or 61. Very different rendition but worth a listen. 😂I recall wondering what kind of sound a coffin makes. I was, I guess, 12. He covers Roy Acuff, too. A very good first album. John Hammond was the producer, I think.
