I’ve owned a Buck 110 since I could carry a knife in the 70’s! Totally reliable and excellent customer service! Being a lineman: I shorted one out in a secondary up in the bucket and melted the blade off! Well… of course it was my fault completely! However, I sent it back to Buck with an explanation of what happened and they replaced it with a brand new one! That is customer service on steroids! Just the fact that Buck is USA 🇺🇸 based is all the more reason to try out their extensive line-up! Great vid and props to you for highlighting USA products!

Awesome story. Off topic, just watched the movie Life On The Line about linemen. Much respect as I have worked with electrical in the past and the one time I didn't use my meter and trusting the shut off switch, melted a screw driver when I touched the leads on the back of a pump. Idiot! I love working man movies like that because we can all relate more (plus I despise the Hollywood pedophiles). We are fortunate to live here in Idaho and I have sent many 110's in for "spa treatments" or upgrades and can attest to their customer service. Ruger similarly has great customer service.

The buck 110 slim is my favorite pocket knife. I work construction and love how strong it is. Also I don’t worry about it breaking or getting lost because it’s $30. Definitely a knife that deserves more attention then it gets.

I have a buck 110 and I love it, but I'm a more modern type of pocket knife guy. The blade shape pierces and fillets trout like no other knife I have. I was wondering if the 110 slim is worth it if you already have the og 110? Is the blade the exact same ?

I think this series, the Buck 110 and 112 Slim, is hands-down the best single blade American made lockback available today. I still have and sometimes carry an old brass 110 in the belt sheath and they are great knives, but this is my absolute favorite in this size and shape category. If I wear slacks to the office, a two blade penknife is probably the go to pattern, but for jeans or shorts or anytime I’m outdoors walking or fishing, a 110 is the thing to have, and this Slim series is the most practical and economical iteration of the series they have ever made! 👍

Amen, Brother. I've tried about a thousand different pocket-clipped knives, but keep coming back to my 110 Slim Selects. I keep trying to justify spending $200, $300, and even $400 on a pocket folder. And, despite my best efforts, my 110 Slims keep DESTROYING my options. It's hard to argue with something that just straight-up WORKS.

@@heightskings6693, I can't speak to any real "hard use", as I really don't beat my folders like I do my fixies. But, I will tell you that...despite the Slim Select having the "110" designation...the blade design on it is quite different than that of the classic 110 Hunter. The blade on the Slim seems more EDC/utility-centric in its design, and lacks the defined clip of the blade on the classic Hunter. (*which was known to break from time to time) Anyhow, for my uses, it's a great knife. I hope it works out for you.

I still have the Buck 110 that I bought in 1983, when I joined the FFA. it was the only authorized carry knife on campus and ONLY FAA could carry one. I have never broken it, but it is about 3/8" shorter on the blade now from the years of sharpening it. I used the tip more than the rest of the edge, and back then I was not stropping, so every time it dulled it lost metal to bring it back. I was using it to butcher some of the smaller meat animals when I got it, so I bought the one with finger groves on the handle.

Ya know, back in 1976, I was in the Navy and everybody carried a Buck 110! Mom and Dad got me one for Christmas so I too had one! It was a right of passage to wear the 110 on your belt! It was so handy for every little thing that came up. I still have mine, but I've retired it to the toolbox as I have a great many more knives today. Every once in a while, I'll pull out that old 110 and think of all the fond memories!

This knife has been my EDC for several years. It has seen heavy use almost daily. I have used it to field dress deer and as a bushcraft knife. Most of the time I use it as a box cutter. I have had knives with all types of supersteel. Where this knife really shines for me is how easy it is to sharpen. I use a sharpening steel made for kitchen knives and in under a minute I can have this knife razor sharp. It's so light you don't notice its in your pocket. The handle is comfortable and whatever they make the handles on these out of is super durable. It is stronger than the wood handled 110s. They are also made in the USA and have a lifetime warranty. These knives don't look as good as the standard 110 and in 2024 they aren't as cheap as they once were however from a functionality and tool perspective they are nearly indestructible workhorses.

I have both Gen 1, and Gen 2 Buck 110's, I like them, they have real walnut on them, and 440 steel. I have gifted 4 of the original design, late model 420 110 models, kind of heavy, but very nice. The sheaths on the newer models ride a little higher compared to the original, but they are good quality. I'm not fond of the plastic handles, though I'd have to agree that these light weight knives are more useful, because they are easier to carry.

I took my Slim Buck 112 on a hike to Grandfather Mountain, NC today and used it to clean up a 6 ft long walking stick. That blade was all full of sap by the time I was done with it, but once I cleaned it off, it was still sharp enough to slice newspaper. You buy a knife for the quality of the blade, and Buck's special heat treatment on these 110 and 112's are the best I've seen (and I've been a Mora, Scandinavian grind, carbon steel fan for years). This blade is the easiest to sharpen, and can be brought to a scary level of sharpness in just a couple of minutes. The fit and finish of the Slim model is every bit as rugged as the originals, snapping into place with that familiar Buck "click". No side to side movement of the blade. It's super lightweight and the thumb stud works well. I never wanted to get one of these Slim models because I just love the original brass and wood (and heft) of the originals, but I eventually broke down and bought one just to see what all the fuss was about, and I'm glad I did. The 112 Slim is my all-around EDC and I'm even thinking about getting a 110 Slim for heavier campsite chores. Can't recommend these enough.

I have the 112 slim in orange. Can't say enough good things about it. Another excellent feature: the clip is unobtrusive, sturdy, and doesn't gouge your hand. For me, the Buck knives are easy to service.

Knife 🔪 is a just a knife 🔪 I never had bad knife,, I can argue that Old Hickory butcher knife is the best or Sog Trident 🔱 or Mora Kniv..Buck knives have proven themselves as dependable pocket folder, same as SAK…We the regular average Joes know the value of Buck 110…Once you get one it’s like intimate relationships and if you lose it it feels like you lost your best friend… Moral of the story DON’T LOSE YOUR KNIVES 🔪…PEACE

I have the entire Buck line from 101 to 124 in wood handles including the Brahma. Only missing the hollow handle survival knife with the spikes I sold to a friend about 25 years ago. He still has it, going to make him an offer one day. BTW the Chinese buy Buck knives, ha.

Bought a 110 finger groves saw for a great price and VERY impressed. Just feels right at home in hand no matter the grip and wierdly light despite the heft. It gives ANY other knife I have used or in my collection a run and could easily be a one and done. I like it a little too much and it seems a little too lethal to be an EDC work knife so looked around. Without groves and pins figured the LT or Slim have the best defined grip patterns out of all the options on Bucks website. Preferencing the pronounced choil of the 112 in orange as easily a safe bet for an ideal work, and play, knife. Perfection of Purpose

I have and have used my dad's original 110. It has skinned a lot of deer and pronghorn, and is an absolute lifetime user. I also have another twin 110 that I literally found in the middle of a busy street a few years ago.. It had obviously been run over several times by vehicles, but, despite some cosmetic damage to the exterior, I cleaned it and sharpened it, and it's as good as new and functions flawlessly.

I have the Slim Pro 110+ with the S30v and Micarta handles. I usually carry my Chaves 229 Kickstop Redencion and my Chaves TAK. But I really love the Buck 110, it's one of the knives in my rotation. I NEVER lend anyone my knife, bc most of the time they really need a screwdriver, so I always carry my OKnife titanium prybar, and if someone asks to use my knife, they get handed the pry bar, it'll open a package or do whatever they need my knife for and they can't break it.

Buck Gang, I have 3 different models of 110 that I use as daily carries with their respective slipjoint secondaries, and an automatic 110 that’s a display item. I have a 110 Classic in S30V, the 110 JUNE Buck of the Month (S30V, drop point, g10, nickel silver), and the 110 Ultimate Hunter in 20CV, redwood, polished nickel silver… I alternate every couple days and I love them. The buck 110 is by far my absolute favorite knife.

I have a Buck 110 and The Buck 110 auto. The 110 was the knife. I do say the Buck 112 slim brings Buck into the new age of knives. And although most of us who are knife hoarders have become steel snobs, 420HC was great steel for a 100 years or more and got the job done. Nice review. I dare say I prefer knives for daily carry with either a Spyderco type compression lock, Axis lock, or Demko’s new shark Lock. 😊

Not to sound like a cliche, but I rediscovered the Buck 110. After watching your video, I picked up a Buck 110 slim. I have to admit it is pretty amazing for $35-$40 USA made knife! The knife feels great In hand and carries well in pocket. I’ve been carrying it daily for past few weeks. It’s a win especially for the price. Great videos! Keep em coming!

The regular Buck 110 is a great hunting and one of my favorite folders for hunting. I edc a Rat1 though because it is a tougher ranch knife. My dad exclusively uses for hunting and camping a 110, gifted to him by my grandpa in 1978. My brothers and I all want that knife. That 440c blade holds an edge a lot longer than our 420hc Buck 110's.

I ditched all of my super steel blades for a couple 3 dot 1980-81 Buck 110's with 440C and squared off thicker handles (last year with this configuration). And I was born then. I call it the masculine version of the 110, which it is. Too heavy most say? Go lift some weights like us real men do then. I call it my Waylon Jennings Outlaw Country knife. Old school steels and all steel revolvers for me.

EDC...110 Auto, 119 Cocobolo w/Brass and 110 Slim Pro TRX, Smith and Wesson boot knife...sometimes I'll swap out with K-Bar Black Full size Fighting knife or the BK2, but 99% of the time I'll have a Buck somewhere. 🙂 I also carry a handmade customized Panawal Dotted Supreme Khukuri 10" blade and would carry it more, but don't care for either sheath that came with it. I'm rambling....nice video.

Ha. You were just North of us here. Quick question. So we were just camping in the Sawtooth's in Idaho and my kids, 9 and 7, finally asked "hey, when do we get to have a knife?" So on the drive back I was thinking about first folders for kids. I first handled a Buck 110 way back in 1984 when I was really young, around 5. So I was thinking a 110 might be a little much for their small hands with that full length backlock. So then I started thinking about a 112. Then I remembered the Buck 722 Spitfire. The Spitfire is also made here in Idaho, is a budget option if they were to lose it, has orange metal handles, is light and slim, has a mid-length sturdy backlock, has a pocket clip and is 420HC which is easy to maintain. I began thinking of other budget friendly categories like the Spyderco Delica and Dragonfly (maybe not so budget friendly), Kabar Dozier (not made in the USA and it's AUS8) and Swiss Army Knife options. The only negative of the 112 slim, Delica, Dragonfly, Dozier and SAK's are that they all have plastic handles. So not sure what to do. Maybe I'll just have them pick. But I like the idea of the 722 Spitfire as a first folder with it being all metal, slim, orange, Made in USA and affordable. If you have any input that would be great.

Another good video. I purchased the 112 slim a short while back on impulse. I wasn't looking for a new knife just was in a local sporting goods store and there it was for under $30 so I picked it up. I'm familiar with Buck knives and have several along with many other pocket knives and multitools but I have to say this 112 has become one of my favorites if not my favorite for EDC. It just works and the ease of carry can't be beat. Great , durable, made in America 🇺🇸 pocket knife. I just purchased the 110 slim but still waiting on it to arrive. I wanted both. Thanks for an honest video about a great knife that fits everyones budget.

No misguided loyalty here. Buck still offers options that command the attention of anyone in the market for an edged tool of exceptional design, quality, and performance. There is truly no substitute for these knives. Aaron has handled a ridiculous amount of blades from all over. Budget, premium, midtech, and custom...yet he's still enthusiastic about these knives, and I'm right there with him. When I carry and use my Buck knives, I feel proud to be an American. Roll your eyes if you will, but I'm totally serious. I don't care who you are, you should have one of these. There is no excuse not to.

Aside from my ''super tinker, the 112 Slim might be the best EDC knife I've ever owned. Like everybody else, I'm not crazy about the pocket clip, but I'm not going to spend $20 on an aftermarket pocket clip for a $30 knife.

The original 110 has for a long time been on my to-buy-someday list just because it's that American classic. The biggest "problems" with it are the weight and lack of a pocket clip. For every day use there's a good case made in favor of the newer Slim versions though. More modern lighter handle materials saving nearly 4 1/2 ounces plus the pocket clip. I really want the "classic," I love the look and the history, but if I were going to buy one for more likely use I'd have to go with the Slim version.
