Stallone said that crowds of people turned out to watch when they were filming and would yell "Hey Rock!" to him, and he said that they didn't come t see Sylvester Stallone, they came to see Rocky. That's how much the character has touched and inspired people in their real lives.

"What is it you said to the kid? It ain't about how hard you're hit, it's about how you can get hit and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. Get up!" Fun Fact: Pedro Lovell reprises his role as Spider Rico, the boxer defeated by Rocky in the opening scene of Rocky (1976). Authentic Battle Damage Fact: The bout between Rocky and Dixon was filmed with actors Sylvester Stallone and Antonio Tarver really hitting one another. According to Stallone, not a single punch in the fight was pulled and every hit on film was a hit for real. Furthermore, Stallone has revealed that the scene where Rocky is knocked down for a 9 count, and is trying to get to his feet by taking hold of the rope, but is having difficulty focusing on it, is completely genuine; Tarver really did knock him down, and he really couldn't get up. Location Location Fact: During preproduction, as the filmmakers tried to find a good location to shoot the fight, they met with constant obstacles - every suitable arena was booked out. Sylvester Stallone knew that HBO had an upcoming PPV event with Bernard Hopkins taking on Jermaine Taylor in the main event, at the Mandalay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas. Stallone suggested that the film could piggyback the real event, using the real HBO format, the real crowd, even the real press conference setup. As such, the press conference scene was shot only moments after the real press conference with Hopkins and Taylor, whilst the scene when Rocky walks through the curtain and down to the ring was shot using the real Hopkins/Taylor crowd. Stallone was hoping that the crowd wouldn't boo or cause any problems, but as he made his way to the ring (as Rocky), the whole building gave him a standing ovation and began a "ROCKY, ROCKY" chant. The crowd was never told to stand up or to chant - they had done it completely on their own, and according to the filmmakers, by far the biggest cheer of the night was for Rocky, not for any of the real fighters.

It's worth noticing that every Rocky movie matches Stallone's career at that specific point. He never planned to do any sequel in the first place, like Rocky never planned to fight again. * Rocky * : Nobody would give Stallone a chance as a lead actor, he was often playing the thug in a minor role. He wanted to prove the studios wrong. * Rocky II * : Stallone becomes a movie star, being compared to De Niro, etc... But after Rocky, the few movies he had done failed to impress and critics assumed they had bet on the wrong horse. Stallone had to take his revenge and hit harder this time. * Rocky III * : After Rocky II, he makes a few decent movies, but critics find his acting range too limited, the man of one movie. Stallone is artistically lost and undecided. How to decently use that fame? Could his gentrification cost him his career? * Rocky IV * : After Rambo 1 & 2, he's one of the biggest movie star in the world. And he knows it. Stallone's megalomania is at its peak. Rocky doesn't fight for himself. He fights for the world. * Rocky V * : Rambo III disappoints at the box office. Stallone returns to the character's humble origins, in order to focus on the basics: his own family - the family he is about to lose. Rocky's son is even played by his real son! Rocky was supposed to die in the final fight but the studio vehemently refused . * Rocky Balboa * : After a couple of successes at the start of the 90s, Stallone makes one flop after another. His fame is declining. He's too old, he's over. It takes him 10 years - with the help of the 30th anniversary of the franchise - to convince a studio to produce a sequel. But people still love Stallone. The standing ovation at the end with the audience shouting Rocky's name was not planned and the emotional reaction from Stallone was real. The film is a nice success. Every dvd/blu-ray/UHD boxset sells like pancakes. And now we have the Creed trilogy. It ain't over 'til its over.

The man doing the dishes in beginning of the film as well as the same man that said the prayer for Rock on the way to the ring’s name is Spider Rico. He’s the same man Rocky fought at the very beginning scene of the first film!

This is a great one. The sad part is the loss of Adrian. That is a major loss. Rocky Balboa has a lot of magic that was in the original film. It was worth watching. The ending fight ended with Rocky losing by split decision but he proved himself. However I found a alternate ending with Rocky winning!

34:09 Well, of course you're meant to root for Rocky, but you're also meant to empathize with Dixon. It's almost brilliant that Rocky is shown to be this extremely kind and caring person and that, although Dixon is Rocky's opponent, he's also one of the people Rocky ends up helping. Right from the beginning, we see that Dixon doesn't get the respect he wants from the public or from his managers (who, behind Dixon' back, say Rocky would have murdered him in his prime) and, in the heart to heart with his trainer, we see that even doubts himself because he hasn't been pushed. In his fight with Rocky, Dixon showed everyone, including himself, what he's made of, and he finally earned the respect and the self respect was looking for.
@wasabi53387 ай бұрын
and Dixon himself wasnt an arrogant bad guy either, he had the decency to tell Rocky that getting hurt in the fight wasnt worth it, and just warned Rocky that if he play dirty or go too hard, he will respond in kind.

Good catch on the song at the beginning. It is indeed the same song that was sung by Frank Stallone (Sly's brother) on the street corner in the first film. It has appeared in a couple of other places. I believe it also starts the 2nd film but it's a different incarnation of it.

some Balboa movie facts, those turtles from the first of the movie are the same from Rocky 1, and they are his in real life, also the statue of him is there in real life, and please see paulie's deleted scene from this movie, all of these movies have fun facts to learn and deleted and even alternate scenes, it would be cool if you would watch the deleted scenes for a reaction video, or see them on your own,

Sylvester Stallone said that he saw that a lot of ex-boxers opened up sports bars, night clubs, restaurants, places like that where their name would draw fans in and where they would mingle with the customers and entertain then with tales of their past glories in the ring, and as Stallone often did with things he learned about real boxers, he incorporated that into Rocky's character.

There’s a deleted scene after Paulie loses his job which REALLY should have been kept in. It completely humanises Paulie and you see how much he regrets a lot of his life and how much he loved his sister and Rocky. It’s actually heartbreaking to watch him break down

For the record they moved the statue to preserve it from the elements. It's not at the top of the steps anymore.
@Lee_H97 ай бұрын
I don't know where you got this idea that they moved it to preserve it from the elements, but it's incorrect. It was originally moved to the Philadelphia Sports Complex after a debate on whether it was a piece of art or a movie prop. For its last move, it was placed back near the Philadelphia Museum of Art, only at the bottom of the steps and off to the side, and has been there for the last 18 years. It has been outside, in the elements for nearly the entire time it has existed. It's made of bronze, it's perfectly fine outside.
