And it is poverty that makes people say that poverty is the reason you put boundaries and limitations on yourself, spouse, and/or children. As if having money means you don’t follow rules or hold yourself accountable. I was trying to get a property for rent in an estate in Lagos. We want to start building sometime in the summer of next year. We however want to secure a rental so as we come and go during the building process, we come right to a home we have fully furnished and made comfortable for us. Anyway, these agents kept asking for two years rent. Of course we’re not going to do that because that’s against the law. One agent finally said to me that those who have the money pay for the two years rent. It’s when you don’t have it you won’t pay. Sigh. I looked at this man who had no car and is also someone’s tenant telling me who could put him on a monthly salary that would change his whole life tell me what and what money can do. I asked him that when Fashola and his government passed this law making it illegal for landlords and even tenants to sign a two year lease did he think Fashola did it for himself and his children? Honestly I was disgusted. These agents because they want to get a bigger commission will break this law essentially making a law the government put in place harder to use. Then they go home with the little extra money in their pockets that they earned from their crime that they’ll finish in one day and then back in the streets sweating under the hot sun hoping to find another gullible tenant. They won’t blame themselves for their suffering. They’ll blame the government. Meanwhile there’s a long line of people in diaspora who will not break these laws because at the back of our minds we would like our children to live in a Nigeria that’s not lawless. So what did I do instead? I got an Airbnb. It costs more than the lease for the whole year and it was only for 30 days. What is the outcome? The agent is walking under the hot sun looking for someone to sign a lease, the tenant has found a beautiful property in the meantime , and the most sad part is a foreign company has pocketed a nice chunk of change from a Nigerian. A nice chunk that an agent would have got if they would be honest. Instead they’re walking around Lagos with the sun beating down on their bald head insisting that it’s people who can’t afford two years that complain. Principle doesn’t matter to these people.

GOD BLESS YOU CHIKA. YOU ARE SO ON POINT WHEN YOU MENTIONED THE VALUES YOU INSTILLED IN YOUR DAUGHTER DESPITE "PARENTING ALONE." I LOVE THAT PART OF YOUR COMMENT. SUCH STATEMENTS HELP TO COUNTER THE NARRATIVE THAT BAD EGGS IN THE SOCIETY ARE MOSTLY THOSE WHO GREW UP WITHOUT FATHERS. I HAVE ALWAYS COUNTERED THAT NARRATIVE......... I KNEW A LOT OF PEOPLE WHO GREW UP WITH TWO PARENTS AND DO ABOMINATIONABLE THINGS!!!!!!......

BEECEE need to learn anchoring from Morayo. Morayo learnt to lead from behind. Such a smooth leader and a follower. Could you let your other program members feel they are part of the team. My 14-year-old daughter in SS2 wanted an iPhone. I asked her what she was bringing to the table. I told her to register for WAEC and NECO coming up in 2025 and she will earn the iPhone when the results are out and good. She uses a MacBook Pro Touch, which she earned by learning Python and Data Analysis. I do not have a problem giving a child any type of gift I can afford, but what the child brings to the table is a big factor

If not for poverty The 20k phone and the 2million phone will still lead them astray if they want to go astray 🤷♀️ No matter the phone you give your child It doesn’t need to be iPhone 16 before you monitor them Some no even get phone and boys Dey take advantage of them just for him to buy any kind of phone🤷♀️

BEECEE and CHIKA na queens of pidgin language. As for BEECEE as a host, please learn not to drag the topic with your co-host and you trying and screaming on top of your voice to force to agree with your point of view.

If you can afford the phone there is nothing wrong buying it for your children.
