Karen Anne Carpenter. One of the greatest singers who ever lived. Some people may try to imitate, but there is no one else who could touch the hearts of millions and millions of people like Karen did. Speaking for myself, a huge music lover, I love hundreds and hundreds of artists but no one touched my heart like Karen. Karen did something all the others were not able to do, touch your soul as well. To this day when I play a Record or CD of the Carpenters I still say "WOW" when I hear Karen sing. She was a absolute phenomenal singer with absolute perfection in every song she sang and she just takes your breath away with every word and every song she sings. Just like her brother Richard. A Absolute genius!!!

It is so amazing that a woman who was loved by so many never found the love she wanted. She was sheltered, overworked, isolated. As a father, I can only ask where was HER father when she needed help? Wouldn't you step up if you saw what was happening to her physically and emotionally? I don't care how tough the wife was, he should have done something; especially when she moved back home.
@chesterhardy31534 жыл бұрын
There were alot of guys like like that, especially in that era of time. Guys go to work, dutifully give the paycheck to the wife, wife runs the home. The guys world is about the job and putting food on the table. Add to the fact that at the time no one knew what anorexia was. So sure, Karen loses lots of weight but turn on the TV and you see Twiggy or Goldie Hawn look thinner yet. I don't blame Harold as much as Richard. Cause Richard was right there the entire time. But he was too nerdy and self absorbed and on quaaludes to notice.
@billparthum2064 жыл бұрын
@@chesterhardy3153 I think one thing we missed in all this was, unfortunately, the role drug usage may have had in her passing. The coroner reported numerous needle marks bilaterally in her groin area. At first I took this as insulin injections as her blood sugar was over 1100. But those would have been more in the thigh areas. The groin area is used for inconspicuous purposes for things like cocaine, heroin, amphetamines, etc. Studies show that 28% of female usage there is initiated by a sexual partner. Guess who. No toxicology report is public that I know of, providing confidentiality for the family and that "plausible deniability". Karen was struggling with so much. R.I.P. angel.
@billparthum2063 жыл бұрын
@@chesterhardy3153 Unfortunately, Karen may also have gotten involved with drugs, as the numerous needle marks bilaterally in her groin area, noted on her autopsy, would indicate. Depending on what was used, this, when added onto her other diet/prescription problems, only hastened her ending. So sad.
@helokopter9242 жыл бұрын
@@billparthum206 THAT is NOT mentioned in ANY documentary or anything else I ever read about her.
@billparthum2062 жыл бұрын
@@helokopter924 Would you expect it to be? The family got Tom Burris to sign a confidentiality agreement to never speak of his own wife. On anything. To omit explanation of numerous needle marks, never analyze stomach contents, and never address enlarged porta hepatic lymph nodes would be small potatoes for a recording studio and wealthy family to stifle.

As I watch the gaunt Karen - I feel enraged at the one or two producers that told her she was "fat" or too "Pudgy" to perform on TV. She took them at their word and it ended up killing her (because of her Bulimia and Anorexia). What a total shame that this angel's pure talent and beautiful gift should have been limited to more than her 32 short years. God bless your soul, dear Karen, and I know God has put you front and canter in his heavenly choir. Thank you for your gift to us for so many years. XO
@johnx58914 жыл бұрын
Probably not a "producer." She started dieting in high school. She started to become obsessed with weight loss in 1973. Carole Curb, her ex-boyfriend and record executive Mike Curb’s sister, said, “She weighed 110 lb. or so, and looked amazing… If she’d been able to stop there, then life would have been beautiful. A lot of us girls in that era went through moments of that. Everybody wanted to be Twiggy. Karen got carried away. She just couldn’t stop.”

Those of us old enough remember Karen quite clearly - it's getting to be 40 some years ago. It is posited that Christ died about 33 A.D., & the earliest Gospel (Mark) is attributed to 62 + A.D. So Mark wrote his memories/experiences of Jesus. My point is that those who lived at certain times in history recorded them, even if "years later". Karen is now with our true One Love.
