Hi, Little Paw, The film was made in 1992. I went the other way from most that year who were all about discovering America. It was a fun trip. I was young, unattached and curious. Robert

Hi Robert, I first saw this film when it was shown on BBC? tv many years ago. It coincided with the start of my passion for canoeing. Also about that time I started a job as lecturer in Outdoor Education and canoeing was my main activity. In 1994 a group fo students, expressed a desire to canoe to London from Wigan (near Manchester). I didn't know that we could achieve this goal. I had never paddled long distances. By the Summer we had a fleet of canoes, and set off on the 250mile journey. There were 12 students, and 2 other lecturers volunteered to help. We reached London in 12 days and stayed at the Royal Canoe Club before returning home by motorised transport.

Welp I was gonna add my two cents worth, but only because I wanted to congratulate you on your fine effort to canoe the whole of Britain. Aye, but my two cents were diminished and so I can only offer you my: Congratulations on a fine effort to canoe the whole of the British Isle - from England to Scotland. WTG

Wow, so happy to see you came through my back garden. The yellow pickup was at Walton Quarries just above Bolton, spent many a summer day rock climbing in them. Sad to say things haven't improved on the Eden 40 years on. But I have enjoyed a trip or two down the Lune and Spey. I think the rapid where you got a soaking is known as The Washing Machine

It was great to hear an outsiders view of the UK and your words echo my feelings..it was in Oxford when no one acknowledged your portage through the city. Then the French students spoke and you said " at least they said something"...that sums the UK up. Needless to say I spend the majority of my time away from the towns etc and out in the few wild places left...even my work is my passion as I work solo in wild places. I can listen to your voice and musings all day. Take care and keep on going.

I’m an avid outdoorsman.. who loves nothing more than spending every chance I get out in nature.. the laws of restriction are crap in the uk.. a person should be free to spend time in nature and pass through as long as they respect it… but the reality is.. I’ve been to some very remote places and ended up bringing bags and bags of other people’s rubbish back… infact I even with the several bags I collected on the way back to my car after a camp I couldn’t take it all… I think there should be a system put in place where if you spend time in nature.. you pay a little something towards it.. that way.. the who ever owns the land.. can at the very least pay for cleaning… eventually it will stop the idiots from going out and trashing the place 🤷🏻♂️

fascinating on so many levels. as a seasoned canoeist and instructor, i take some interest in the gear used at the time, and paddling skill and technique. you were an intrepid adventurer of the highest order, however, i would have loved to give you a river paddle and some training and i feel that you would have had greater control and safety. not to diminish the purity of your journeys at all.
