Here's a hack for how to do the weird half-polygon symbology that they sometimes use in soil science maps.
Check out some other social channels where I share how-to's and updates on random map adventures:

I think, what would make that yard just pop, is a hammock! 😉 Fantastic stuff as always.

thanks Zorko! yeah, it's pretty niche and i'd never heard of this symbology type before last week. but it's amazing what you can get away with with sneaky uses of blend modes. i thought it could fire up some folks and give them ideas for other uses.

I think I can repeat the steps. But the mindset and workflow are something more than intellect! I just simple don't get the genesis of the approach. P. S. I would also like to get home eggs after video editing.

Ha, thanks! Screen and multiply are, to me, opposites. So if I could get both going by using a group I knew I had a chance. It took a lot of fooling around to get it though and I gave up a couple of times. Just had to get my head around the right combination.

Great video! I'm curious as to how you might show this kind of symbology in the legend.
@JohnNelsonMaps
@JohnNelsonMaps 2 жыл бұрын
ah, good question. you would have to make your own legend, by inserting two rectangle graphics and giving each the pattern used on one side of the map. then put the rectangles next to each other.

Could that kind of setup be saved as a style?
@JohnNelsonMaps
@JohnNelsonMaps 2 жыл бұрын
No because it is symbology and layer ordering and groups and blend modes.
