One Minute TIp - Shell Holders

Another tip - RCBS has slight different shell holder sizes than redding, lee etc. Some cartridges with very tight tolerances like PRC and 6.5-284 Norma don't like if you use redding shell holders with rcbs dies. I spent days searcing the internet for a solution to why my cases were tough to chamber with heavy force on the bolt handle. Lesson learned; use rcbs shell holders with rcbs dies. The rest of the reloading brands is mix and match.

Yes this is 100% true. I have had a similiar experience. I guess another way to look at it is if you have a combination of die and shell holder that works put that in your notes.

what lee compatible shell holder for use with 6mm CREEDMOOR - can't find ANY specifics

Honestly I dont know. With the parent cartridge the 6.5CM...30TC...308 win. I would look in a loading manual for cartridge specs. I would think one of those shell holders would work.

Thanks. I have presumed that the 6.5CM shell holder will work fine - and also the 6.5 case length/head space gauge since the 6CM is 'only' a resized neck of the 6.5/308 cartridge. Might be a false assumption, so thought I'd ask.

why are hornady's shell holders so crap?

It seems to me like they just don’t invest the time and $ to finish the shell holder as nice as RCBS and others.

Hornady loves to over charge for their stuff regardless of quality.
