Sally, you are a treasure. Your podcast is so encouraging. If anyone needs to hear this message of encouragement then know this: you are called to be a mother. Give your self grace and be graceful to your children. They need you and want to feel needed as well, so whether they understand it give them chores and make it a positive thing. It’s all in our attitudes so we must remember to let the Holy Spirit give us the strength to not grumble but be grateful. He is able and willing to help. Words matter in our minds and what we say to our children. I realize that I am so happy when they appreciate me but I have to remember that the lord above sees me and truly will always be there and fill my cup daily. Love unconditionally and discipline with discernment from the Lord. He is faithful. ❤

I have lived the "....so not reality..." part of your comments, and can tell you as a mother of five (now mostly grown) kids that IT COUNTS. YOU COUNT. Even when you're driven up the walls and you want to pull the covers over your head and hide. Motherhood doesn't always look like it does in the video, but it doesn't need to to count for eternity. I'm living proof of that.

Yes, it counts. I'm sure those are questions my mom asked. But remember what is being portrayed here is not the physical realities, but the real value behind. It doesn't look like this from the trenches -- that doesn't change the principles.

And her kids are all calm and listening when she reads and lovingly and calmly sit in her lap. So not reality unfortunately. Does it count being a good mom when your kids are crazy and drive you up the wall everyday? When they are clueless of the concept of respect no matter how you teach it? When you are SO exhausted you just want to give up? I wish being a mother looked like how it does in the video.

Your words are my words. I'm going through this stage now, and although the words of this video are very encouraging, the perfect mother and perfect kids just make me feel worse. I wish I had the time and energy to do all those things that she's doing here, but I don't. I know it's been 7 years since you commented, but please tell me how you've gotten on since then. Have things improved, do you have any encouragement for me to hear?

It is during these times where our role is needed most. Perfection is not real, but the love portrayed here is. Seasons change, but our love does not. Hold onto that and breath and act from that place. Keep showing up for them. Be the rock during these hard times.
