Just returned from five weeks in Indonesia three days ago. Regarding transportation: used GoJek a lot - great service… used Bluebird taxi, used the train in Java from JKT to Jogjakarta (great views) used the public bus in Jakarta numerous times… if you plan your route in advance and keep track of the stops you’ll be able to get around but ya gotta stay on your toes… My advice is follow your route with a map app on your phone as you go so you’ll know where you are in relation to your destination (unless you speak Bahasa Indonesia and easily understand the PA announcements on the bus - not always easy even when you do understand the local language bcoz PA systems are ‘like that’) Personally I loved it there. Visited several islands as well: Lombok, Gili Air, Bali and Java. I’m going back asap. Next time I’m staying longer… much longer. Hopefully for the rest of my life!
