SF 6 is proving that when you have a universal system that all characters can utilize in a variety of ways it opens the doors for player expression. and the single player content is made to transfer you from it to going online. the base game characters are super wild i cant wait until the really weird dlc characters arrive.

While I agree to an extent, I think this is underselling the work that the balance team did to make everything fit together so well. If we take something like DBFZ version 1.0 as a comparison, there are some incredibly strong system mechanics that every character share, like reflect, superdash, air movement, snap, raw tag, vanish, but the balance at launch was TERRIBLE. So basically what I’m trying to say is that, yes, the underlying infrastructure and framework of the game is super important, but to make sure that every character fits well into the game, while still being unique and strong is a pretty difficult task, but I think they nailed it with SF6.

When I started I thought that fighting games and especially street fighter were incredibly difficult games and I would have to play a LOT to just get the inputs of my special moves right, but in reality it's not that hard (and I'm playing with classic controls) and it becomes a lot of fun really quick. This game is legit the only online competitive game where I can't get tilted towards it, every loss is a lesson and I feel like I'm improving each rounds that I go through. I think the fact that the mental stack is kinda too big to actively consider everything at once is why it's always so engaging, and doesn't show signs of getting old any time soon. It has less of a "flowchart" feeling and more of a sense of freedom and expression-but you have to learn to predict your opponent and make reads as well as reactions due to the sheer amount of possibilities at any given time. I now have around 70+ hours in World Tour and I'm having a blast just doing Avatar battles. The basic game itself (outside of Avatar and World Tour) is also amazing. I really enjoy playing Cammy and Luke. I love the character designs (or re-designs), love the Stages, the soundtrack is amazing, the animations are extremely fluid, the fighting mechanics are excellent and the game provides everything a newbie would and could possibly need and ask for to learn how to play. It's... it's perfect. It's just perfect, what can I say. The last Fighting game (to go with a specific one) that did that to me was OG Arcade Killer Instinct, not exaggerating at all with this and that means a lot to me, since KI '94 is basically my favorite Fighting game of all time, probably still is but now SF6 is an extremely serious contender for me.

Yeah, I grew up with SFII Turbo, then the Alpha games. Then 3rd Strike I really liked, and IV I enjoyed as well. V didn't click with me. Fast-forward to SFVI a month after launch, and it's one of if not my favorite fighting game of all time. I've been playing it more seriously and consistently than I have for any fighter in a long time, also doing lots of Avatar Battles. I love my character, build and hybrid style with the combos it allows. This game is top-tier.

Capcom implemented mechanics from previous games which makes sf6 more fun and enjoyable, parry is basically from 3rd strike, drive impact is a variation of focus attack from sf4 and the CA are very unique and fun to watch. And since I can't dedicate too much time to this game Modern controls is helping me a lot.

As someone who came from more fast paced games with high execution that usually involved magic series combos or non-link styel combos, like MVC2 , UMVC3, DBFZ, I had a hard time getting into SF4 and 5. I felt punished for jumping in and restricted with ground movement. I felt Tekken to me, was better at giving you options on the ground. That being said, Ive been recently playing SF6 and im having tons of fun. I thought i would never get into SF, but here I am enjoying the heck out if and waiting to see what happens next. But oh my god am I glad I stuck with it, since I'm truly blown away by how addictive and constantly satisfying the online ranked mode is. I main Dee-Jay and even when I lose to either an insanely good player, or someone who spams throws, I never feel like I wasted my time playing the game, you know? I think throw loops should stay in the game. But I also read a comment that mentioned that after a few successive throws, the damage should be mitigated. One thing about throw loops in sf6 is that in addition to countering parry, its less threatening without a stun gauge compared to sfv. Throws count to stun in sfv which made it a lot scarier when stun gauge was high. Since sf6 doesnt have stun gauge anymore, you dont have to worry about stun and you can just worry about taking the throw or making the guess without consequence of stun gauge.

It also helps Ken is actually really strong in this game majority people agree he's S tier if not the best character in the game. Even my newb friends who don't play fighting games ever are enjoying it.

I think it has to do with Ken being a very popular character, especially after Third Strike. But that's actually one of the biggest gripes I've had. Ever since Third Strike, they've always managed to make Ken insanely powerful & one of the best characters in the game. We had it with Flowchart Ken in SF4, we had early Ken in SFV, we're basically having the same thing with SF6 Ken.

One thing that I feel absolutely cannot be understated is also just how many new players there are who are coming from different fighting game backgrounds with the inclusion of modern controls (myself included). It's been an amazing feeling, being able to jump into a street fighter game with the controls on my terms and feel my knowledge growing with every game, and feeling myself adapt from playstyles I had learned in games like SSB. I had tried, multiple times in the past to get into SF5, GG Strive etc, but just couldn't because everything felt so alien to me. This game though, its all clicking. The drive meter is hands down the most intriguing and interesting systems I've encountered in my limited exposure to fighting games. All this combined with some of the most satisfying VFX I've seen for a fighting game makes me want to come back and play more in a way I've never felt before. I just hit 27 hours tonight and I can say that I love this game and want to see it flourish in the future.

I love the fact that there’s a very minimal type of comeback mechanic. The CA damage is a bit much at times but it’s not a sure comeback like some of the other mechanics newer fighting games have. A come back in this game requires skill
@fluidthought42 Жыл бұрын
The problem with the other fighting games is that their comeback mechanics makes it almost a punishment to be better at the game than your opponent, since you _have_ to be at low health to do the really cool shit. Sure, you can burn resources to do cooler combos (but only if you time it correctly in an already timing intensive task), but that's just not the same as spending a super bar to annihilate your opponent is it? SF6 gives you both the bar to do cooler combos (without the annoying hurdle of finding the right timing in the preexisting move to do the thing) and also a super bar that rewards your patience and skill with a move that can either top off your dominance with style or save you in your most desperate moments.
@ryo-kai8587 Жыл бұрын
Yeah, I was just thinking about the difference between CA and Lv3 versus something like the revenge meter from SFIV; the difference between a bit of extra damage and an entire extra Super is huge. Just the little edge to help a comeback that CA offers is actually a great mechanic and adds tension to a match.
@AnhDonoi Жыл бұрын
To be fair, i wouldn’t even call it a comeback mechanic as you need to build the bar in order obtain the CA. To me, CA is guaranteed each round (X factor, v trigger, ultra)
@fluidthought42 Жыл бұрын
@@AnhDonoi you needed to build the bar in Injustice 2 as well, but it was still a comeback mechanic then

@@AnhDonoi yea you're right i dont consider CA a comeback mechanic either. thats whats great about it. yea it does extra damage but its not gonna one shot someone like mvc 3 and xfactor haha. it was lame to see someone dominate all game just to have 1 character wipe out the whole time cause of x factor.

Was stuck on gold in 5, went platinum on day 2 in 6 (now plat with Cammy, Manon and Blanka) and I have a lot of room for improvement since I make mistakes in every game I play wether by not using some mechanics enough, not varying my game enough with Manon or dropping my combos and dive kicks with Cammy among other things. I blame myself more because I give wins where better players don't and I can see that in this game. In 5, I had no clue as to what I was doing wrong and was always blaming my character. Here I switch just to not get bored playing the same character.

5:47 Exactly the issue. Being that there are soooo many offensive options, defense is becoming a guessing game without strategy. Which I think is the biggest issue so far. I'm sure Capcom will tweak some things down the road to make defense more viable. If throw loops are here to stay, they should scale the damage down if throws are consecutive. For example, if I throw loop someone within 3-4 seconds from my first throw, the throw damage will scale down by 25%...But not keep scaling, maybe just keep the scaling max to 25%
