@Swapmoto Live Try 40 hp the whole race and maybe 45-50 hp for the start to first hill climb only. Some people say that 40hp is the most usable power for a tire that size. Since that Stark Varg weighs 20lbs more, maybe 43hp would be the ideal limit for the entire race.

I routinely trail ride mine at 20 and 30hp not only extend the battery, but to work in carrying momentum. So I would have started at 55hp and then once clear and in the hills went to 25 or 30hp. But the reality is, the Varg is not a replacement to my gas bikes, but an awesome addition for the purpose I bought it for. And that is stealthy trail rides around my house and for the motocross track. In fact, I raced it in Moto a few weeks ago and got zero arm pump for the first time ever. Not sure if it was the bike or the ease of the throttle or what But I never get arm pump when I ride that thing and it’s interesting. I’ll have to do some back-to-back tests with my 450. I did notice last time I rode my 450 my right hand goes numb from the vibration and my neck and nerve issues. But it doesn’t happen on Stark. But anyway like I said, it’s just an awesome addition to my gas. Motorcycle it is not a replacement. And it is by far one of the most fun bikes I’ve ever ridden probably just because it’s different.

Great Ride Thanks for showing - to extend range I carry momentum in turns - regin set close to zero - makes big difference - 2nd map has regin set high for big down hills - also got a horn that is loud enough - battery powered - has different sounds - then riders know im there - passing is dangerous enough -

Don, you started from the 3rd line...isn't that "women's first-time beginner" class? ;) Looks like you were having trouble turning that beast. Love the audio and the quietness after your holeshot. I've been racing SRA for 30+ years, since before Rich's dad, Don Suitor had it at Glen Helen. I'm nearly 70 now and can't ride, but loved your video.

Best set up is only having 2 modes: Mode 1: 48hp Max EB. Modes 2 to 5: 55hp Max EB that way you only need to shift down to the lower hp mode to make it mistake proof. You start in mode 2 and after first corner you shift down !

This track is the absolute worse conditions for the varg . Higher speeds drain the battery realy fast even at low throttle input . So being wide open on those hills and generally carrying high speed its uprising it lasted as long as it did .

Gotta have the sounds of real motocross racing thats half the fun. I see why battery bikes are fun and maybe the future but it will never replace the hard core sounds of gate dropping supercross, motocross and gncc etc especially at these events in person.
@mxriderdakarАй бұрын
Did lot of range test, and the best for the battery is a slow technical terrain, but you’ll fight the weight of the bike, also tried on a mx intermediate level track, the best i got at 30hp is 57 minutes but at cruising speed, but you have to turn down the regen under 20% also zero regen is really special to ride. You should try it. And i tried an enduro race at 30hp, the race was 1h30 to 1h50 but was able to race 1h15. Hopes those data will help. kzbin.info/www/bejne/hHPUlpaZd8mgq8ksi=dYGHN4INyeF1N_A6

You don't need that much power on a Stark to match up with others, try riding it at 45hp 100% regen

They definitely cant finsh a hare scramble, not even close. They should just use a gas motor to power the electric transmission because its not an engine its a transmission, the battery is the engine of the e drive

My typical response is “throw a match in the gas tank and walk away” I wouldn’t waste the match on that thing. I’ll ask Dommer to kick it over when he sees it.

The bike going into limp mode at 20% is a no go, bringing a generator that burns GAS to power the charging stand. Bike is 6 grand more than a new 4 stroke. It weighs 40 pounds more. A replacement battery cost as much as a nice 2 year old used 4 stroke. Not to mention, you can't work on it yourself. If anything goes wrong. I just dont see how they are the future? The sport is already expensive.

6 grand more than a new four stroke? Are you buying a CR230f? Battery is now 3k which is unnecessary. They have some work to do to get the range up no doubt but it is the future.

When the sounds and smells of high octane fuel and 2 stroke oil are gone, replaced by the sound of nothing and the smells of frying lithium batteries, I'm out. I've been a racer, a rider and a fan of all things dirt bike sense the 1960's , but when the EV's take over, and they will, I'll be done. I'm old school, and not ashamed.

I'm no hater..I've been riding ebikes for the last 6 years...but this would have frustrated the hell out of me. On one hand, if you could have used the full power of the Stark you could have been giggling the whole time letting people pass you & then re-pass them at will. With current battery technology all I see is the rider's biggest concern being battery conservation....not the race. Instead of racing...you're just running scenarios on how to finish...ridiculous. I think you are dreaming if you think you could have done 2 more laps with better battery management...1..maybe?? Had you actually had to race someone who was on your back wheel, you would probably have depleted the battery after 4 laps. If I were following a Stark all I'd do is keep enough pressure on so he couldn't lower power & wait for him to go into limp mode...that's not racing, that's an economy run. Having followed "rapidly improving battery technology" for decades, a battery capable of supplying enough power to use 50+ HP for 45 minutes at real racing speed is still years away & until then, these bikes will remain quirky oddities with very limited applications as racing bikes.

Junk ? Go ride one and see if you still call it that ? Because every gas bike I ride now feels like they are the biggest piles of shit . Vibrating, changing gears and managing an engine with clutch .
