I owned all three and ended up selling the 16 and 12mm . Like you said boils down to how you like to shoot. 10-24 is great for Real Estate and I have been taking it as my primary lens on travel to Europe. Absolutely love it.

I personally love to use the 10-24mm @ 14mm. Love that extra drama you get when going wide. But I get where you are going with this (and I never tried a rokinon). If traveling light is your thing, maybe the 16mm f/2.8 is for you.

Awww the poor 10-24, you hurt its feelings Omar 😢 - I guess I can't blame you, I really love mine for video use and for my photography but I will agree with you that sometimes it's just TOO wide and it's fun at first and then it gets kinda stale after a while. Shooting everything at 10mm gets boring and while it has a cool effect, it's often overused at times. But I keep forgetting its a zoom and I can zoom in for different compositions. I get what you mean by using the 16mm, now I have the little brother, the 2.8 version and it's more fun being restricted to that focal length, like you said you have to work the scene which in return makes for better photos. I've been questioning mine as well to be honest. Love the dramatic video man.

I own both the 10-24mmF4 and the 16mmF1.4, but I've never had the Rokinon. The 10-24mm is quite beefy and heavy, and I've seen myself not bringing it along when I go hiking for that reason. I did the first time, and never again. I would bring it only if I know I'm gonna need it. But every time I travel for city tourism, it comes with me alongside the 18-55. Especially if I'm doing street photography, possibly with architecture. It fits into a small slingshot bag and it isn't that bulky. And it's the most versatile, which isn't surprising, because it's a zoom lens, duh. But I think I use it mostly at 12, 14 and 20, with 10 and 24 being rare exceptions. The 16mm, on the other hand, is a weird focal length and I personally don't have many uses for it. I actually bought it for low light and astro, and also to have a WR wide angle lens, but I don't really use it enough to justify the purchase. However, it's come in handy for street photography at night (f/1.4) in crowded streets (wide enough, without being excessive) while keeping my ISO low, so it's my lens of choice for street and cityscapes at night. It depends a lot on what kind of photography you do, but I think the zoom is the most versatile and for what I do, I could live only with that lens 98% of the time that I need a wide angle. However, it's good to have one other wide lens with wide maximum aperture for low light. But the choice is very difficult. I think the 16mmF1.4 would be a better choice for street photography, since it's wide but not too much, and it lets in more light, so you can use faster shutter speeds; while the Rokinon would be better for landscapes, astro and architecture in low light, because it's noticeably wider. So, if I had to choose, I'd keep the 10-24 and the 16mm, because I do more street than landscapes or architecture at night. Plus, it's the only one of those three that is weather sealed, I believe.

during the meanwhilst - the Samyang/Rokinon 12mm is easily dismissed against the more expensive native autofocus zoom lenses, but what it does have, apart from price, is incredible compactness and being light, to go along with great image quality. It’s one of those lenses if it broke, I have to get another one, and affordable enough that I can. And given I never seem to need to focus (I shoot at f8 usually, sometimes f5.6, at night f2.8), the lack of autofocus doesn’t bother me.

It all depends on style of shooting, I have 10-24mm and love it. That would be my keeper number one, but hey everybody has different style and needs. If I go to Paris … Venice … or doing art street photography here in Melbourne… 10-24mm travels with me.

No spoiler alert here. Had all three but couldn't keep all three so kept just one. Why? I can't really afford to keep three wide angle lenses. 12m Samyang/Rokinon very sharp, lightweight and compact but awful distance markers didn't correspond to depth of field or infinity. Bought it for landscape and astronomical use and guessed at focussing on a Galaxy Far Far Away. 16mm f1.4 FABULOUSLY sharp quite heavy and limited focal range even though 24mm is my favourite focal range. 10-24mm versatile and sharp at most focal lengths exceptional landscape lens bit duff around 22-24mm. So guess what, I bought the exceptional 16-80 f4 to go with one of the three mentioned above then added a 55-200 and am set. I forgive you for your choice as with your photography style you are absolutely correct. Great vid as ever. I wonder which one I kept?

I have all primes in this range. The 16mm 1.4, the 23mm f2 and the Laowa 9mm 2.8. The Laowa is absolutely tiny (even smaller than the 23mm f2) with minimal distortion and excellent image quality. Great for travel. The 16mm 1.4 is larger but I could never part with it. It has a magical quality about it and allows me perspectives that I simply cannot achieve with any other lens.

I guess the thing is that although most photography KZbin channels act like they were catering to the needs of professionals the overwhelming part of the audience are hobbyists. And hobbyists - most of the time - are on a budget. So they are always looking for "The Best Camera" in all situations (which) doesn't exist and since there is tribalism and since there are insecurities and since there is status and so on there is a huge potential for conflict. I'm a photographer for 25 years now. I shoot semi professional for almost five years. And I don't think there is one perfect camera. The A7III might be close as a perfect all rounder but it's expensive with the lenses und you can't take it in dangerous situations and it's to big to put in in a pocket and so on... there will be no perfect camera since money and physics will always be factors too. What are doing professionals? They are using specific cameras for specific tasks. I myself am using Fuji for most of my professional work (which is mostly journalism and event photography). Why? Because it's relatively cheap, because there are two card slots and because it's good enough. On the other hand, by now I shoot film when I do street photography (because people who disapprove of being photographed seem to be less angered when you tell them it only was film). And I'm saving for a Sigma Quattro H for landscapes. Way? Because the sensor is out of this world and because the really bad high ISO and the terrible AF and the even worse writing speeds and the horrible handling don't affect me at all when I'm shooting landscapes on a tripod. Als long as people think they can The One Best Camera there will always be bitching about other peoples choices. People should realize that in life you use specific tools for specific tasks. A Porsche might be a great car but I would'n't transport a piano in one...

Gotta admit, nothing nails eye focus for an event shoot like an A7iii! Absolutely blows everything else away and makes shooting people in events so much easier. I have the 10-24 and 16/1.4 here to compare and I'm seeing all the same things you are. The 16 is glorious for photos. It makes damn near anything look so dramatic and beautiful and it is SO bright. But when recording video, the autofocus is incredibly loud - make sure you're using an external mic if you want to capture audio! And even then I can sometimes still hear the lens focus. It also seems to hunt a lot more than the 10-24 but I'm not sure if that's just because I can hear/feel the 16mm focusing. With the 10-24, the autofocus is dead silent but the internal mic in my XS10 pics up what I assume is the OIS noise. A constant mechanical-sounding hum that isn't there with the 16mm. UGH why do they have to be so expensive - they're both so good!

So I do have the 16-55 and I LOVE that lens, however I'm shooting on the XT3 and I am a hybrid shooter that does video also. even though I have the 16-55 on a gimble I do find it's not super smooth for some real estate shots. I am shooting some interior of my house so I can rent it and the 16mm is just not wide enough I feel like. I'm also moving to Colorado next year and I think the super wide 10-24 would be a legit lens for landscape and nature and the fact it has IS I can shoot either in my small rig cage and or use it on the gimble. I could easily just rent the lens for about $50 for 2 day weekend but currently my only rental shop in HI isn't renting now because of a state wide lock down for COVID. "rolls eyes" Currently on the used market they are about $650-700

The 10-24 is stabilised which the other 2 aren’t. That copes with the f4 thing and makes it a good video lens too. I’ve got 1 and the 16mm too. Love them both as they do different things. Don’t have the Samyang, can’t see a need for it. If I had to give up a lens then the 55-200 would have to go as it’s one of the weaker performers in the Fuji line-up

The Rokinon 12 is un-heard of value. One annoying issue I had was that none of the manual focus Rokinons I have (2 different lenses)(..and also with other legacy lenses on a voigtlander adapter) is that the manual focus scale is not accurate because I've heard they make the mount a little short to make sure you can achieve infinity focus. Because the depth of field is pretty deep at 12mm, I eventually found my solution for this lens. Enter my Brother label maker with black label tape and white ink. By trial and error I made a label with distances marked that fits and looks perfect. The distance between 12' and infinity on the lens ring is less than 1/4". The lens now works fantastic for pre-focusing by estimating. Then lift camera and shoot. It is faster and more reliable than auto-focus in many situations. The only issue that remains with my little Rokinon 12 for my Sony a6500 is that it flares pretty badly, but I can usually be aware and work around that.

I think you’ve inspired me to put the price up for it to put ppl off buying it and wait for the 10-24mm to be delivered. I do like the compactness of the 12mm f2 and already have 67mm filters for it

Just throwing it out there, if your requirement is to also be able to do video, even with money being no object, It seems the 15-45mm may literally be the only sub 16mm option with fast/silent autofocus, OIS and no wobbly corners in video? All the other options either have no OIS (IBIS+OIS works better than IBIS alone, especially with video), suffer from glare/flare (like the Samyang 12mm F2, I love it, but 50% of the time there is some light source that washes out all contrast!), 10-24 and Viltrox 13mm suffer from wharpy/wobbly corners and are really huge and heavy, the 14mm F2.8 has slow/loud focusing. What else is there??

It shows that you love that Rokinon a lot by the way the lens cap is super dusty haha! Great video! I love what you said about lenses that are not being used could be used by another person. My wife will be thanking you shortly for inspiring me to resell some of my unused lenses.

While dreaming about traveling in 2021, I pulled the trigger on a used Zeiss 12/2.8. I figure in my light travel kit, I can go Zeiss 12/2.8, 23/2, 50/2, and 16-80 with two bodies (X-T4 plus either X-Pro2 or X-T30). If I'm shooting event, that 16/1.4 is coming along. The 10-24's OIS would be very handy with my non-IBIS cameras.

i thought you will keep 10-24mm. I used to own 12mm, great build & image quality, but i shoot event, so af, ois and zoom make 10-24mm an indispensable tool.

You chopped my most used lens, hilarious. I now take only two lenses with me when I travel, that one and the new 16-80mm, and when I do landscape, I add the 55-200mm. However, given what I shoot, my choices make sense, just like given what YOU shoot, your choices make sense.

When I had the 10-24 I never shot with 16-24 range, Mostly 10-14 so missing the 10, I went with the 12mm for occasional wide shots, works great, its light, sharp.

Muy buen vídeo !!! Entonces en tu opinión cuál te parece mejor lente ? El fujinon 10-24 ? Y porque no el 16 mm . Lo siento es que mi Ingles no es muy bueno y no entendí todo . Gracias 🙏🏼

Apparently the voters have not tried the Rokinon. I have it and would not plan to ever part with it.. I love the look of the images that I get with it.

The Rok rocks.. just be careful with bright backlit trees/subject as I got lots of chromatic aberration... but now they are B&W w/ ‘soul’. 16 1.4 is stupid sharp.

This one is a great video. That lens who is eliminated is one in my list. I should buy the other two. I just need a wider lens to bring in my travel. I thought that one is a great choice.

I agree with your selection. I for one have wanted the 10-24 for a long time but because I have an adapter for my Nikon glass and have a ridiculously sharp Tokins 11-16mm, I never bought it.

You dumped the lens that I'm about to buy, lol. It's a video/vlogging beast from what I hear. The other two lenses don't have OIS and my X-T3 doesn't have stabilization. The WR version is lighter too, so not as much of an anchor to carry.

rokinon is known for being good for astrophotography. i haven't tried to shoot starry skies with my 16mm 1.4 but the rokinon does a great job.

Great job done. Missing the Zeiss 14mm/2.8. It is so sharp on the edges. The Rokinon has some problems with lens flares.

Hi Omar, I will be soon joining the Fuji owners club and I intend to get the Sigma 18-50 as my main kit lens. But for ultra wide angle, as I am shooting lots of landscapes, should i really for the Rokinon then or is there too little difference between 16 and 18mm to get the Fuji 16 1.4 ? thanks

I was the one who thought you'll let go the Rokinon. I guess I underestimated you. That being said, I do own both 16mm Fuji and 12mm Rokinon, and they don't overlap, instead, they complement each other. And in regards to zooms, recently I picked up Fuji's 16-55mm f2,8 and in the real world, that's the only zoom lens that I need...

Good decision, when I purchased the 16mm f1.4, I actually sold both the rokinon 12mm f2 and the 10-24mm, I found the 10-24mm had shit AF, nothing was consistently in focus, especially low light. and the 12mm well that was too much hard work Manual focus just slowed me down.

I feel ya on the not wanting stuff sitting around collecting dust. I have the Rokinon as well and I dunno...there's something about the rendering on the X-T1 that I'm not loving. I keep thinking I haven't spent enough time with it but it may be time to let it go...

hey , thanks for the vid I have 18-55 mm but looking to get a second lens. Am debating between the 16mm 1.4 and the rokinon 12mm. I have heard great things about the 16mm , however it is on the expensive side. Which would you reccomend? Thanks in advance
