COLIN KAEPERNICK, BLAIR IMANI these were the people I thought about when I first realized the impact of my favorite scene of quite possibly my favorite movie! And it's not just a Black thing (though they seem to talk about it the most, or at least we hear about it that way the most), Asians got it too, South Asians really got it too. It's such a deep thing that other races don't even wanna discuss discussing it!
All rights go to Amazon prime... and her majesty Regina King for directing this masterpiece!

Bust Down episode 3 has a deeper, albeit very silly and intensified, take on this.

Kingsley Ben-Adir is only 36 (as of this comment) and he's already got to play Malcolm X, Barack Obama, and Bob Marley in his career. Good for him.

This was the most resounding part of the movie for me. As a light-skinned openly militant-minded cat myself, I've been thinking about it for months.. and everyone involved in bringing this scene into fruition is a psychological and perceptive genius.

Same, I haven’t looked at the same since this movie. And then it’s amplified with all these colorism conversations that’s been going on. Like it’s made me wonder where all these lighter famous people stand on this, and if they’re trying to prove something and to who or even themselves. Amazing how such a small scene can make such an impact on how we think about this.

I'm lightskin and we can talk about it ANYTIME!!! From MY perspective to Jim's question bt reverse... why WEREN'T there many of our darker brothas out there being JUST as militant or even more than brothas like Malcolm??? That's always been MY question

My father used to love Bob Marley. I don’t know how good Ben can pull off the Jamaican accent, but I think he can do the rest of the role well. We’ll see.

@@AgroFro i think Bob's grandson Skip Marley looks like him but his locs is already long and it would be difficult for him to play bob in his "Catch a Fire" era because Bob had a afro at that time and I'm sure skip wouldn't want to cut his locs just to put on a afro wig lol. I think kingsley ben adir will be better because he doesn't have locs and they can easily have him portray Bob in different eras in his life.

Idk if Jim was the one to bring it up, but I do think someone pointed this out at least once. I know for sure people had no reservations about commenting that he was high yellow to Malcolm’s face nor sharing opinions on it. That being said, regardless of if or how this convo happened, *everything* they’re saying true.
