In this video the Mark of the Vampire, The Mark of the Bat and the two Marks of Clarity are facing down. In the rules book it says that the Mark of Fear should be facing down and it says nothing about the Mark of the Bat which makes me assume it should be facing up. Can someone clarify this for me?

One more question, I noticed that the marks are all face up before people place them on other players. Doesn't that give everyone who wakes up the information of who woke up before them by seeing which marks are face down?

+supermot34 If you look more closely, you'll notice that only some of the Marks were face up - the ones corresponding to roles that weren't in the game - Mark of Fear, Mark of the Traitor and Mark of Disease. The others started, and remained, face-down

I'm very excited for this, especially mixing it with the werewolf cards. I will say I personally don't like the style where players put a token on their card when they claim to be it, because it makes it seem like that has been decided or figured out when other players can still counter claim, or it could be lies. Just feels wrong to me. Plus then you don't have them laid out in order so you can easily see what could have happened during the night. Is it true that Count and Master do not turn other players into Vampires, that is only the power of the standard Vampire? Also what happens with Doppleganger and these cards? If I copy the cupid, do we both give marks of love to people? Also, does Paranormal Investigator become a Vampire if he sees one (I would assume yes)?

+supermot34 Yes, only the standard Vampire can turn people. I assume that the Doppelganger only copies actions that happen after people check their marks - at the time the Doppelganger wakes, only abilities that place Marks (and Daybreak's Sentinel) have happened - abilities that move Marks and cards around all happen later. There are two other obvious possibilities - that the Doppelganger moves Marks they're pretty sure aren't the ones they're supposed to be back into play; or that you have a second complete set of Marks for the Doppelganger to use. I'd assume that the PI can also turn into a Vampire by peeking unwisely, yes.

+rmsgrey That's not quite accurate. The Vampire "team" has the power to turn one non-Vampire player into a Vampire. That team could be composed of just the Count or just the Master, or both. The regular Vampire is not needed for this power to be used. When using ONUV, the Doppelganger wakes up before the Vampires do. There is an extra set of marks ( a total of 4 Cupid marks, 2 Disease marks, 2 Bat marks, etc.) for the Doppelganger. Yes, the PI turns into a vampire by peeking at one.

David Jackson Oh, okay - that was phrased misleadingly in the Kickstarter then, where only the vanilla Vampire role was described as being able to turn people. If the Doppelganger wakes up first, does that mean she's getting a new role token as well? The existing one has her wake up at 1, while the video shows ONUV tokens with negative numbers on. Also, how does the Cupid power work with up to four people having marks of love? Do you have up to four people, all of whom will die if any of them are killed? Or are the Doppel-Cupid marks of Love different from the regular ones so you have two distinct pairs of lovers?

+rmsgrey yes, I believe the Doppelganger is being renumbered to -7. however, I don't know if the new Doppelganger token will come in ONUV or just in the new production of ONUW.I'm pretty sure that the Doppel-Cupid marks are identical to the cupid marks, so if there are 4 cupid marks on 4 players, then all would die if one dies.

David Jackson I think that you would use the copycat character as opposed to the doppleganger, there probably is a slight difference.

Yes, but they don't exactly "override" your card (except for Vampire). They signify an extra twist you have to do. Artifacts override marks and cards.

What does the mark of the bat mean ? if there is a renfield card with one player and the bat token with another does that mean that there are 2 renfield or only one renfield and the guy with the bat token is only on vampire team ?

ZombieBunnies I'm guessing it's important because marks can be switched. If you check your mark and see you have the mark of the bat but weren't renfield, then someone else is, and they have whatever mark you had before. Just gives some extra information.

+Michael S My best guess is that all the roles that add a Mark to the game (swapping in one from the bench) happen before everyone checks their Marks, but the roles that can swap Marks between players wake after. The Pickpocket or Marksman could discover the Renfield's existence, but you wouldn't find out automatically. What it definitely does do is un-Vamp the Renfield if he got bitten by a Vampire, and possibly undoes the Fear of the Count. It's also possible that Renfield could be cured by the power of Love or the Priest's blessing (or by being marked for death by the Assassin etc), or he could be stuck with conflicting desires...

+ZombieBunnies If Renfield dies while he has the Mark of the Bat, and no other vampires die, the Vampires win. If Renfield dies and he does not have the mark, they lose.

I mean, it's fun and all and the game is kind of targeted toward mid aged groups, but until I saw the Beizer Games logo, I just thought these people worked at an office together... and not Beizer Games' office.
