One of best Castlevania games are finally unlocked - Castlevania Dominus Collection

I'm sorry, I made a terrible mistake. In the later part of the video, I mention that the game Haunted Castle was the first Castlevania in the series, which is NOT true! Thanks to @Syragar for pointing out my error.

Dracula X is not the same as Rondo of Blood, it's a reimagination for SNES that changes the story and level design, removing the voice acting and a playable character, and being way harder than the original. Same for Haunted Castle, it's a reimagining of the first Castlevania with different story and gameplay, they're not the same game.

The second two ds games did new things (aside from the seal drawing in dawn) and portrait is so good very few Castlevania games top it. The collection is worth it for portrait, although having order of ecclesia in there is nice too. If you can make it through that one you can beat any of them.

I think that for Castlevania fans beating all of three is pretty easy. As I mentioned in video I did beat other two on DS, and now I beat portrait of ruins thanks to this collection, and I agree with you - it's one of the coolest Castlevania games

Great video! I'm a big fan of these games. I think I need to mention something. You said that Haunted Castle was the first installment of Castlevania... but I don't think that's true. The first Castlevania was released in 1986, while Haunted Castle was released in 1987.

I'm sorry indeed, I made the mistake. Thank you fopr correcting me! In fact the Hunted Castle wasn't even the first arcade Castlevania, as the first was Vs. Castlevania, but it was first with it's own "story", as Vs. Castlevania was just port of the very first Castlevania from NES.

@@MardaxGames No need to apologize. I just thought I'd mention it. I ended up getting this on Steam for my Steam Deck. I'm looking forward to playing these again. I've always liked the Castlevania series since the original on the NES back in the day... but the Iga Castlevanias are absolutely my favorites!

I think that's because I'm European and I played Castlevania Symphony of The Night before I were able to learn English :D, But I'm glad that works for you :)

To think i still own rhe original trilogy on DS For some reason i prefer them on rhe original hardware rather than a switch or worse, on a console

Respect for still having DS. After testing Dominus collection I can't complain. There are some improvement and games works much smoother + additional game so both options to play these games are good 😊

​@@anemite2I checked the game again, and you can! While changing versions, you indeed cannot choose the VA option. If you select the Jap version of the game, you're locked into it. However, I tried this with Order of Ecclesia, and once you're in the game, you can access additional options from the Dominus Collection overlay, where you can change the voices to Japanese while still playing the US or EU version of the game.

@@anemite2 I'm not sure if this works on the Dominus Collection, but I think PoR allowed for Japanese voice acting if you hold L while making a selection from the main menu. I think you hear Jonathan shout "Showtime!" if it works.
