This album came out after 911 when bush invaded Afghanistan and Iraq. The song was Em Way of saying you all want revenge, but will you want revenge when they’re sending you away to die for leaders who lie to you and got us into this mess. This is an anti-war song.

We listened to this song quite a few times along with White America, Till I Collapse, Sing For The Moment. The deep cuts on this album were really good.

For some context, this song was the opening track on an album he dropped in the year following 9/11. He had been given notice by Congress, the CIA, and allegedly even President George W. Bush to tone down his "aggressive" views and stop pushing the boundaries and saying the things he says. This is why he starts with "never been the type to bend or budge". He essentially responded to these warnings with "i want ALL the smoke!" and then proceeded to (lyrically) attack all those who opposed him. The anthrax napkin and hijacking Amtraks creating line was in reference to creating terror that the government would happily use to convince the people to do anything they wish. It was intensely poignant and divisive sociopolitical commentary against the government who stood against him. It was nothing short of a declaration of war against a corrupt system who attempted to censor him.

This was a diss to the rapper Canibus, who is most infamously known for torching LL Cool J on 2nd Round KO with Mike Tyson, one of the greatest diss songs ever made, only for LL to respond with The Reaper Rips Back and ether Em. Matter of fact Canibus still be talking about Em and things he did something to him mentally. Canibus for his part is one of the greatest rappers to ever pick up a mic period tho himself. Check out Canibus Poet Laureate Infinity which he made a 60 minute all bars song that on his album the bars were randomized into a set of 200 bars so it’s only 10 minutes on the album but you can mix the song an infinite amount of ways for new results.
