​@@TheDeconstructivistWhen a game is new, no one knows what they're doing so everyone is just trying everything they think sounds good. As people continue to play they become better and figure out the things that work and don't work. When this happens, if you want to do something that isn't the best you need to be significantly better than people who are doing the best thing to make up for the difference. That's not most people. So, you have to play the tried and true method that has been figured out, or lose. tldr: op has nostalgia for when everyone was bad because suboptimal play was harder to punish.
