As a nurse I can tell you this has been going on for a long time. There’s been a shortage of nurses ever since they stopped hospital based training. The powers that be will deny this no doubt but it’s true. Years ago you did hospital based on the job training and got paid for it now you get to go to uni and come out with a hecs debt only to soon realise what a demanding ( both physical and emotional) job it is and you look for another career.

They had on-site accommodation for the nurses too. The old nurses quarters at RBH sat derelict for decades and have now been redeveloped into student accommodation - which as we all know is very expensive.

This shows that 92,699 deaths in total have occurred so far in 2022 by 30th June which is 13,524 more than the historical average. This is 17.1% more than expected. There are several causes. A major one is that there are strict mandates in all medical settings so many nurse (and doctors) can nolonger work as they are not fully vaccinated. Another cause is Immigration. The last census shows half the population is a recent immigrant, and our current government plans a million more which is a lot for a current population of 25 million. The government does nothing to upgrade infrastructure to cater for the rising population. We have a government medical insurance paid through your taxes which provides free or affordable care. But our hospitals are increasingly third world.

I remember when this hospital was officially opened early 1989. I grew up around the corner in New Lambton Hts. No expenses were spared finding the CEO (Head of the place). He was an actual English aristocrat (mentioned in "Burke's Peerage) & now back in England managing the ancestral family estate. The guy came to Newcastle via Harley $treet London. Educated at Oxford University! That's the level of excellent the place once had.

I realized watching this, that it is not just one country going through this problem. All I can think to say is this is a crisis overall.
