Hi Gary. As I told you, after saw your video I got the sigma 70 mm. It's a great lens. Tested it against the sony 90 macro and optically both are very similar. Of course the af speed and stabilization of the 90 macro are specific differences, but in the real life for macro shoot I dont need stabilization and for studio model shooting the af speed eye af works perfect so agree with you, this 70 macro is a very good lens and has a grat price in second hand world. I got mine in U$ 310 perfect condition with original box and all original accesories on ebay. Thanks so much for your very usefull video to me.

Nice video. I use the a6400. I do mainly food photography for fun. Do I need image stabilization handheld for food photography?
@GaryJahman3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Danny! 😃 It is nice to have and it depends on your own capabilities. I have pretty stable arms (lol), so for me it is a nice bonus. Handheld is still possible, but with macro lenses it can be quite tricky to nail the focus really well in darker light conditions. So yeah, not needed but nice to have 😉

Nice to see some videos on this lens, I think it tends to get overshadowed and not much love shown towards. I have this lens and like it, from what I've researched online, it's up there with the Sony's 90mm macro image quality, but I have never used that lens, so I won't say definitive that it is. The 70mm is a very good starting macro lens in my opinion.
@GaryJahman3 жыл бұрын
I agree with you 💯 When it comes down to image quality it is really up there with the Sony 90mm. The biggest difference with the Sony is that the Sony has built-in stabilization. I can imagine that for some the lack of stabilization might be a deal breaker. Especially when in the field. But for the price and image quality this Sigma is truly a gem 😊 Thanks for stopping by! 😃

I have a sony APS-C, I had a Laowa Macro 65mm, I changed it because I want something of better quality, which one do you prefer between the sigma 70mm macro and the Tamron 90mm SP macro? What does the public think?
@GaryJahman2 жыл бұрын
I don't have any experience with the Tamron 90mm, but I do have experience with the Sony 90mm macro. For the money this Sigma 70mm is hard to beat. But I also think it's personal preference. For instance the Sony 90mm is one of the best, if not the best, macro lens for Sony e-mount, I'd still prefer the Sigma 70mm. Simply because this is the range I'm most comfortable with. Hope this helps! 👍🤣

@@GaryJahman I appreciate your answer, I agree with you, I was also analyzing the sony 50 mm macro, even this sigma surpasses it?

I have a question. What happens if you leave the lens in manual mode, then power off. Will the lens retract? Or stay? Thank you.
@GaryJahman2 жыл бұрын
It will retract most of the time, however not always.

@@GaryJahman I am asking because I need to use this lens for industrial application. I need the focus to stay even when I reboot the camera because I cannot go in and adjust the focus. What is you set the focus on manual mode. Does it retract when you turn the camera off?
@GaryJahman2 жыл бұрын
@@SabioAC Ah I see what you mean, well when you put the lens itself in MF, so not in the camera, then it will stay there even when you turn it off. So in your case it will work as you want it to be
