Got mine in 2018 from Amazon for $1600. Use it purely as a back up chrono in the aircraft so no need for a date. Much more legible than the Daytona. Love the big eye and tried the Titanium model last week at my AD. They've done a great job with the Titanium / Blue dial version. Slightly less legible than the standard version here, but legibility still fine. It's a very good looking watch with vintage origins and a modern twist. Next week I return to my AD to compare the Titanium model with the standard model you have reviewed here, which as you mention is probably even better value. I have no idea which of these I'm going to buy. But the 'The Battle of the Big Eyes' at my AD next week will provide the answer!!

It's a tough choice, but I chose the titanium version as the blue dial paired with the color of the casing stood out once they are next to each other, I did swap out the strap for a darker toned brown Hirsch strap along with Longines stock butterfly clasps, it's now my favourite weekend watch.

When this watch was released I confess I didn't have time (pun intended) for it. At the time I had a fixation on the sub dials cutting though the numerals and generally that has stuck.... But later reviews pointed me more to how easy it is to read the chronograph and then it just clicked, this is a tool chronograph. It took a while, maybe a year to find one in steel that I could see in the flesh at an AD and that AD 80 miles away. Anyway I dropped into the AD and tried it on and the deal was done. This is the most readable at a glance chronograph that I have and that includes my old Speedy. I have to agree the lack of a date complication is a positive in this case. I'm a big fan of the BigEye but the black dial just works better for me.
@SteveConkie-t6rАй бұрын
I forgot how long this watch has been available. I tried it on when it first came out and was not impressed. It seemed extremely plain and thick, with little detail to make it feel premium. To me it just felt like a big, old, chunky, boring watch. I now believe I misunderstood the whole point of the model. If one thinks of it as a military watch, then it all makes sense. And I didn't realise how much engineering is necessary to make a triple-dial chronograph. I plan to revisit an AD soon and try it on again.

Teddy I have a few problems with this watch: the big eye sub-register at 3:00 destroys the symmetry of the dial; the sub-registers are the same color as the main dial, which detracts from the overall visibility of the dial and sub-registers (panda and reverse panda styles successfully address this); and, the obscured indices on the main dial and the missing ones on the big eye sub-register complicate timekeeping--granted the main dial indices are not that critical to timekeeping, but it would take some experience with this watch to know where your stopwatch was in the first 30 minutes. The movement accuracy is impressive, but....
