It happened! Linus Ullmark just scored a goalie goal in todays Boston Bruins game against the Vancouver Canucks. This is just fantastic in a season that is honestly hard to even put into words. He becomes just the 13th goalie in NHL history to score a regular season goal and we hadn’t seen one, since Pekka Rinne back in 2020!
Its no secret, Ullmark is having his greatest season of his career by far but he’s also having one of the greatest seasons in NHL history. Lets take a look in todays NHL hockey highlights recap!

Until he loses a game and the fair-weather fans trash him again 🙄 remember, 6'2" USA born & trained college goalie, that Alex ovechkin eats for snack-is "the future of the bruins " 😃 I got nailed all last season telling bruins fans linus was going to be the number one goalie to take us to a Stanley cup They'll be trashing him again tomorrow

@@lukefraney3026 yep. that was my point. But it's not a matter of being good or bad- he's not elite because he's not trained. As my comment suggests-USA trained goalies are nothing but a snack for the likes of Alex ovechkin USA trained goalies used to have international opportunities, like the Olympics, but they NHL does not allow them to participate. That was the key to Jonathan quicks cups. He had just come out of the Olympics, European training yeah-I've been asking fans to back the hell off the kid. But I was a goalie skills coach, so I didn't go after anybody for their ignorance Sway was called up because of the pandemic emergency knocking out Rask and halak, not because he was ripe. He's only 24 years old-goalies don't hit their prime til about 27 2019, Binnington changed expectations of young goalies in ways that it doesn't work. And after getting a Stanley cup his first season out, Binnington isn't doing as well. That was a fluke. Jeremy needs European training-USA trained goalies don't make it on elite teams. He's only 6ft 2in, that is going to work against him-he has smaller gear, shorter stick, is screened 3in more than Linus Linus's legs go post to post when he's on his stomach, Jeremy's don't Shorter goalies get pulled out of position more easily, can be more injury-prone And 6ft 2in didn't used to be considered "short" About ten years ago, all the goalie gear regulations change, they made everything smaller-no more double padded pants, no extra large goalie jerseys, no all-white jerseys Nobody noticed that the GAA went up as goalie gear got smaller, and they thought players got better lol! They didn't. Goalie gear got smaller. Trappers, blockers, pads Tim Thomas will probably be the last Stanley cup-winning goalie's under 6 ft. And his aggressive style would get him suspended now-he would go after players beyond poke- checking, instead of the puck, cuz he already knew he wouldn't be able to stop the puck if he allowed them to get the shot off. His style play wouldn't set well now. You might notice soley butterfly style is no longer-doesn't work with the new pads.. they got to go hybrid -the only solution left was to import very large goalies with few vowels in their last names Rare-finding someone that large, quick, nimble, flexible is the same as finding an elephant that can do ballet!

Boston bruins fan for 60 yrs, only a few seasons were close to this one, 70,71, but this team is the most balanced and deep of any I've seen in all that time. It's not about superstars scoring 60 goals, it's about 2 way players who backcheck, the bruins hardly give up 2 on 1's, and the D always makes it difficult for clean breakouts through center ice.

hello-I was a member of the Bobby or fan club early 70s! 1960s street hockey by 4 years old in the Massachusetts suburbs! This team breaking records, 60 point seasons is a side effect from everything- we've got twenty-two different players scoring-23 with ullmark now! And he's going to try it again in playoffs so he can match Ron hextall and Buodreau, (get one in regular season and playoffs) I think this energy started to boil up 2019 Stanley cup finals. That's when many of us wanted Cassidy gone. An AHL coach's "Do your job follow the system" to seasoned veteran cup winners? He took out the grit-David backes gave a great radio interview December 2021 when he was no longer under NHL contract. Very respectful but pointed out major flaws in the Cassidy system But we didn't hear about it in the mainstream media ? I knew something special was going on last memorial Day weekend. When Pasta posted the Twitter video asking krejci if he's coming back, Krejci just looked in the camera and smiled... There was a twinkle in his eye! A week later, Cassidy was fired... I turned off all hockey news through the draft baloney, listening to all the insults. If Pasta didn't think this team could make a run at it, he wouldn't squander the prime of his career on an ole fart 2011 cup reunion. I trusted that the players knew & felt something we didn't. Same with the magic of the 1970s I bet you felt it bubbling up at some point... Let the younger ones go for the clickbait. Sabres fans turned me on to Ullmark. Clearly he was playing injured before and after hip surgeries. He had a difficult home situation and needed a change up... He was told to his entire career he never make it to the NHL-until he did. Older bruins fans like these Longshot goalies with huge chips on their shoulders... You must remember fan spitting on Gerry cheevers, they didn't like Tim Thomas. And of those Stanley cup-winning goalie's? neither one of them will have their jersey in the rafters. They had huge chips on their shoulders-not politically correct. with all due respect, Jeremy swayman sold tickets and jerseys, no way was he going to be the "future of the bruins" at 6'2", college boy that Alex ovechkin eats for snack? the last USA trained/born goalie to get the cup was 1994, Richter on Rangers. USA does not trained elite goalies anymore I love our international League, we've watched the names of our players lose vowels, goalies get bigger as the goalie gear shrunk But USA trained goalies can't be elite anymore, anyone under 6 ft 3in? Would be rare in this era Tim Thomas played in Europe and Jonathan quick participated in 2 Olympics, won Stanley cups shortly after those Olympics. Cuz he played on European rinks by European rules, where the European shooters are coming from! Goalie Bob has definitely been the quiet top asset to this team-throughout all the coaches, staff changes... He's kept our stable of goalies pretty solid over the decades-and when they didn't have it? There was goalie Bob dressed to backup atta game! Or give Tim Thomas a rest at practices There has been something special going on since 2018/2019-but Cassidy held it back. Took away players vision and didn't allow their instincts to rule the game. They weren't having fun as they did with Claude Julien. I think the momentum is still in the bruins favor for another 4-5 years... Pastrnak and ullmark along with Lindholme, McAvoy, Zacha, marchand are talent magnets. They're going to be around awhile. I think this will continue Enjoy! Frankly I'm hoping they go for back-to-back cups! 🏆🏆

I'll say as a life long B's fan, it won't be one of the greatest unless they win the Cup. I believe they would have won in 2019 if Cassidy hadn't jinxed them with his "I just want my name on that damned Cup" comment during one of the interviews before the Final. Glad they got rid of him, good coach, but a cancer to this team. Monty will hopefully lead them to a Cup this year - he allows the leadership on the ice and in the locker room do what they need to do - and it shows. The year they are having has been extraordinary, I hope they stay healthy and really put on a show! Let's Go Bruins!

Kinda reminds me of when Osgood scored the year that the Wings set the record for most wins. Everyone on earth thought they were unstopable and were going to win the cup that year. They didn't. Yep and they’ll be out round one. Not hating but this is what happens a team goes on a extreme winning streaks and burns themselves out for playoffs. Saw it with Tampa saw it with Calgary saw it with Florida saw it with Toronto. The bruins will have too start pacing themselves.
@JustHazardous
@JustHazardous Жыл бұрын
They already are pacing themselves so to speak. Bergeron, Marchand & Debrusk average TOI down measurably this year because of the use of the 3rd & 4th lines, which almost all could easily be middle -six or even top line on some teams (Taylor Hall is top line on 3/4 of the teams in the league). I'm sure as playoffs near, their TOI will go down so that they stay game ready, but not pounding the heavy minutes trying to make the show. They don't care about the record they only care about the Cup. Smart enough to let chance at record slip if necessary to make sure they are ready for the run.
@invertwiley1689
@invertwiley1689 Жыл бұрын
Hazardous is right, they already are pacing themselves. Honestly its beneficial for the whole team the way they are doing it. Top 2 lines decrease TOI compared to other teams to let lines 3 and 4 play a more fair share. This benefits the top 2 cause they can be more rested between shifts and the bottom 6 all get more TOI to develop. The timing throws off other teams that try to stack 1 or 2 very solid lines as well. This is the best way to develop a whole team anyways IMO. I think Montgomery is the best thing to happen to the Bruins in the recent years. Cassidy came in and righted the ship so to speak. When he took over the Bruins was doing terribly. But like all good things- it was coming to an end. Cassidy seems like Tortorello in the sense that he can come in and fix sour- negative attitudes with quick success and strong discipline skills. Though both seem to let their ego get a little out of control. Proof of this -at least for Cassidy- is Debrusk. He no longer wants to be traded and instead is having a record year with no signs of slowing down. Now Montgomery has stepped in, the team has plenty of discipline and veteran leadership with Bergeron, Marchand, Foligno, Krejci, and McAvoy. All he had to do was instill a positive-team first attitude and give a healthy game plan for their strengths and ages. All of that is why i hope you are wrong. I know what you're talking about though. I watched the Lightning go down in round 1 that year. They did what most teams do in late game while down a goal or so. They increased TOI for their top lines and it showed. Sure Point, Kucherov and Stamkos are a disgustingly brutal line, but even the Great One on a tired shift is only so effective. Bobby Orr couldnt have done an end to end goal if he was at the end of a 5+ minute shift. That type of thinking is what I'm counting on and what i hope Montgomery believes as well.

Looking at the matchups I don’t think they’ll lose in the first round, then again that’s what everyone said about Tampa when they got swept by Columbus. What scares me is the 2nd round. They’re gonna have to play either Toronto or Tampa. While I think they’re better than both of those teams, those are basically divisional games so they’re always tough. Then they’d have to most likely face Carolina. The East is stacked this year so there’s not any easy matchups. The EC playoffs are gonna be insane
