I finally begin to pray and release it to God and we were able to work things out with an honest conversation. It reminded me of that hymn that has the lyrics “Oh, what peace we often forfeit Oh, what needless pain we bear All because we do not carry Everything to God in prayer” Great video!

I have a co-worker who complained about me to advance himself into my position. Someone who I had considered my friend and they completely back stabbed me and still try to get me in trouble a year later. This has been one of the hardest years of my life dealing with the attacks at my work. I just decided to stop talking to this person because of his actions towards me.. Forgiveness is a daily action for me here. Because, 8 hours a day I have to face the attacks. Thank you for making this video. I feel like no end to the attack is in sight, but I have to trust God sees it.

My co-worker and I experienced this at the previous company that we worked at. His situation was worse because he was friends with this person, and I was not. He is now grateful that it happened because he left and started his own company. My situation happened several years later and it was difficult in a different way. A young girl who had just joined the company got the promotion instead, the guy that I had turned down because I suspected he was a nominal Christian started pursuing her, and I turned 40. I did not resent the young girl but I resented the same person who had interfered in my co-worker's promotion because I saw his politics at play. My future looked bleak and irreparable, and I was confused because not only should this not be the future of someone who puts God first, but it may have turned out this way because I did. I did not see God at work, but later that year the co-worker who finally started his own company after years of toil contacted me and invited me to join. The work environment and opportunities are much better. And why did this happen? The two years he was at our former company were, in his words, the most difficult time in his life. He saw me as the one good person there surrounded by evil and he wanted to help me. God gave me favour with this man. I did not have the faith to see that God would come through for me, but He did.

•Amen, Forgiveness is for your own healing, not for the other person. •Any time as Christian’s we face a situation where someone does wrong to us, it’s a perfect way for our heavenly father to be glorified and for the light of Christ to shine. Mt 5:16 •when situations as these come up the Lord always reminds me to think that what they are doing, is actually not even being done to me but to the one who lives in me. Because it’s no longer I who lives but Christ who lives in me. Y’all, this is so good. All glory to the one who deserves it. •Forgiveness is really a work in progress, but it’s the job of the spirit, with our submission to do the work in us. •Love y’all, blessings!

Not yesterday but the past Sunday, our church had a sermon on forgiveness, and the sermon text was Matthew 18:24-35, dubbed the parable of the unforgiving servant, and in that parable the unforgiving servant was forgiven of 10,000 talents, equivalent to about 200,000 years worth of income (or approx. 6 billion dollars according to my pastor), and then once free proceeded to harass a fellow servant for 100 denarii, or 100 days wage for a laborer (still not tiny, but nothing compared to his forgiven debt). I had heard this parable before, but I never knew the extent of debt forgiven, and it struck me that that's not even as much as we've been forgiven in Christ, and yet our temptation is to do as the unforgiving servant did ❤️

If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” says the Lord. Yes, this is very important. Also remember forgiveness is not dependent on the person the person being sorry, changing or repenting. You’re also not saying the behavior you’re forgiving is anything close to okay. And forgiveness is definitely NOT saying you’ll put up with what happened to continue happening. So yes very important not to sweep anything like that under the rug in terms of getting out of such a situation. Abuse is never to be tolerated.

I definitely agree with what Nate said at the 10:21 mark. I think it might actually be biblical. These verses seem to be in harmony with that principle: Proverbs 17:22 "a merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones." Also (all in Proverbs) Proverbs 12:25 15:13,15 18:14 Thank you for making this video.
@josephinebain72362 жыл бұрын
I think it is also worth meditating on Matthew 18:21-35, The Parable of the Unforgiving Servant. I agree that unforgiveness is never an option, but I would take it a step further and say that extending forgiveness should never be delayed. None of us knows when we're going to die, and because we don't know when we are going to die, we must always be prepared to stand before Christ, with clean hands and a pure heart. Just imagine those who sadly, like Christ, have been murdered. Their last act on earth, if they desire salvation, must be to forgive. There is no time to harbor resentment. Every soul in heaven has forgiven everyone of everything that has ever been done to them. Like Nate suggested if you're experiencing difficulty forgiving someone, start by praying for them. If you can't pray for them, ask for the grace to want to pray for them. One last point is that forgiveness doesn't always mean reconciliation. While God always desires reconciliation, certain circumstances do not warrant it. Such as in the case of abuse (physical, verbal, emotional, etc.) I have learned that sometimes the best way to love someone is from a distance, but it does not negate my responsibility to forgive them and pray for them.

I agree with you. Forgiveness is vital for your own peace, health and relationship with Jesus. One aspect you didn't cover was setting boundaries. Along with forgiveness, it is healthy to set boundaries in the relationship towards the one who has offended or hurt you. Forgiveness should not give that person permission to come in and offend/hurt again. By setting limits as to how/when/where they are involved in your life may be necessary to protect you and your family - maybe for a season or maybe forever depending on how they respond. I'm sure that when it's a family member it is far more difficult to do, but is still important.

This is so good and such a relevant thing to talk about as we all will experience this at some time in our life and most likely multiple times. The only thing I would add is that even if we are forgiving and loving and praying for the person who hurt us, if they aren't willing to acknowledge their sin and ask for forgiveness, the relationship may never be fully restored, especially if they keep repeating the same offence. We can have an attitude of forgiveness, yes, but true reconciliation takes both parties; one coming in genuine repentance and the other genuinely forgiving. Notice how in Luke 17:3-4 there is the act of the brother coming in repentance. "Pay attention to yourselves! If your brother sins, rebuke him, and if he repents, forgive him, and if he sins against you seven times in the day, and turns to you seven times, saying, ‘I repent,’ you must forgive him.”

I think another practical way is not keeping a record of their wrongdoing. I mean it's hard to forget hurtful things but often I'm tempted to talk about the issue with someone and then the more I bring it back up I just feel the same anger and bitterness even though it was years ago and those people aren't even in my life anymore. Or even on my own I don't know if it's unforgiveness or just satan reminding me but sometimes when i'm trying to sleep I'll start thinking of those situations again and sometimes even recreating the scenario to what could've happened. Then I just snap out of it and say this doesn't change a thing, it's not reality. It's really frustrating, I just want to move on. And sometimes I've already made peace with the person but I still think of those situations every now and then

The most important thing to do when we need to forgive is drop our self righteousness and bend that arm of judgement and point that finger back at yourself. You remind yourself that Jesus died for your sin too. YOU offend intentionally and accidentally. YOU hurt. YOU sin. In spiritual maturity your sin is just has great as that person who sinned against you, you are no better at all. So drop the self righteousness and humble yourself before the mighty God who forgave you. That's how I deal with sin and forgiveness....I look back at myself. A Christian has forgon the right to unforgiveness, remembering his own sin and all HE has been forgiven. We ourselves have done others wrong, let's not forget that.

Great topic to share about, but I think you need to go one step further... Forgiveness is one thing, but trusting that person again is a whole other level! I don't want to feel this way towards anyone but I also can't not feel hurt. is it okay to keep my distance? I never have tried to say anything hurtful to this person. Ive tried to avoid conflict to the best of my ability. the best I can do is just not respond to them.

This was really interesting to me since I'm not a Christian. I always wondered since you believe that Jesus died for your sins and forgave you for what you have done and haven't done, what stops Christians from doing bad things if they're already forgiven? I'm genuinely curious. I would love an answer from anyone who knows.

I'm no expert, so if I'm off, everyone be gentle in their correction. It is the Holy Spirit that guides us. We worship a forgiving and merciful Lord, so we have a desire to please Him. We do that by living in His Word which pierces our hearts to do the right thing. We all fall short, but if one is truly a believer their sin will be revealed in God's perfect and divine timing.

And to add to Christina's point. We can only receive forgiveness if we turn back to God, away from the wrong things we do. The Bible talks a lot about that you can't "exploit" God's forgiving nature. Just because He's merciful doesn't mean we should continue to sin. If we truly receive forgiveness, it means we are turning away from our sin, and seeking God all the more. So, yep it's the Holy Spirit at work in us to transform our hearts, and make us desire God all the more when we genuinely seek forgiveness for our wrongdoings, and repent of them.

Romans 6:1-2: What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? Certainly not! How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it?

Thank you everyone for your kind responses. I always found it weird that if a person is a murderer and a rapist but he accepts Jesus that he goes to heaven. Now I know that is not the case. Thank you
