I remember when this came out and it was far from loved . People used to make fun of the owners right to their faces . GM only continued it to save face and not admit any mistakes . Johnny Carson even used it in his monologues .

Beloved? What are you smoking? It’s a cavalier with makeup. It was anything but loved!

Cavalier LN with bling! I parked next to a Cadillac at a dealer meeting in my Cavalier LN. You could only tell them apart by the aluminum wheels vs. my Wire Wheel covers, and the grill. And of course the window sticker!!! Quality was good on both, as it was the same car.

I had a 1986 Cadillac Cimarron with the V6, it was fully loaded. I didn't have any problems with it, it wasn't anything fantastic but it was a good car.

All jokes aside... the front seats in these cars were AMAZING and some of the most comfortable I've ever sat in. At first, I thought it was just me, but then I heard someone else say the same thing. I might be wrong here, but I understand that the seats were designed by the Lear Siegler company.

I've never understood why Cadillac couldn't have spent a little money for some modified sheet metal for the Cimmaron. Some " Cadillac only" rear fenders would have gone a long way towards distinguishing it from the rest of the versions of this body.

it was an incredibly bad idea - I was around during this time - it was NOT loved; not by Cadillac purists nor by the general car culture - it was a fkn over tarted Cavalier. IF Caddy wanted to 'downsize', it would have done entirely better to task the Monte Carlo for a sportish coupe and redone the longer contemporary impala to a 4 door variant for a 'longer' "shorter" model. THIS thing was a pig with lipstick - a gut punch to the Caddy brand for power, styling and 'luxury' - completely worthless of the brand marquis crest.

this NEVER competed with BMW or Mercedes, hell - I am betting it suffered at the hands of loaded Hondas / Toyotas / Nissans ... Nobody is Nostalgic for this ... The Buick GNX - yes, this thing *NOPE*

Could you please stop with the AI generated thumbnail pics? That car on the thumbnail looks like a Chevrolet Caprice from a bad fever dream. It isn't real, and doesn't depict what's in the video. It gives the wrong impression about what the video is all about.

This car was simply another version of the J-car platform. So, it was no different than the version labeled a Chevy, Pontiac, or Oldsmobile. The sad part is because it was labeled a Cadillac, it was supposed to be different than those other versions. This is a lesson in marketing, not quality.

It was NOT beloved. It was a rebadged Chevy Cavalier, nothing more, except being higher priced and having the already tarnished and tainted Cadillac name on it. Wait... I get it now, you're being sarcastic and facetious. Gas in the 80s was also not expensive, not by a long shot. In fact they remained relatively stable between $0.79 per gallon to about $0.97 per gallon through the 80s and 90s and just about 9/11/2001 the prices jumped to $1.10 and further continued to go up over $2.00 the subsequent year after.

A total production run of 132,499 over its 7 year run is hardly successful. That's just 18,928 per year. Not exactly a loved car. People who bought full-size Cadillacs are not interested in fuel economy either. Timeless appeal??? Risk taking??? What people wanted?? Beloved today?? Are you kidding? Cadillac USED to be innovative and creative. They developed the first electric starter. They created the heated seats in 1966. There is nothing to this car except the fact that it is a Cavalier. People loved what Cadillac was: a luxury car maker. Large and in charge. When a Fleetwood pulled up, you are noticed. People wait to see who steps out. No one cared who stepped out of this econobox. Get real!

Get real, please 😂. NOBODY LOVED THE CADILLAC CIMARRON. It put an enormous stain on the Cadillac name. Along with the horrendous HT4100 aluminum boat anchor engine. Cadillac lost 60% of their market share throughout the 1980s due to bad, bad decisions.
