An interesting design strategy for black dragon is that they have their battery packs located in separate compartments isolated from the speed controllers and other critical components so if there is a LIPO fire in one part of the bot it won't spread and destroy all the internals of the machine as we've seen with Tombstone and Fusion.

@@Infinit8433 well no strategy is perfect but it's still a pretty good strategy to have. Maybe they've got redundant systems which can survive the heat. They do use fire resistant foam for shock mounting the internal components so that at least does provide some measure of protection.

In Black Dragon's case I believe it's down to construction. iirc the weapon and drive systems are pretty much entirely seperate and isolated from each other as much as possible with bulkheads inside the bot. So in a case like this, the weapon system was blazing away but the drive was pretty much unaffected.

Inside of Black dragon was cooked pretty bad but only a small chunk of it. Black Dragon (and many other teams) section off electrical components inside the robot so that fires don’t spread as easily. This fight was a perfect example of how much it can help.

this is old fight, why upload it so late? well deserved win tho, however not sure if they were lucky or if it was well built. well built, as in keeping components separated and protected. it was clearly weapon's battery that caught fire, but it could have been either luck or well built machine, either way GG!

Both have forks plus floor probably was slightly damaged by saws, drums, hammers, and so on. It would be very expensive and time consuming to fully repair/replace the arena floor after every fight
