God Bless you, Tristan! He clearly does. :) Favorite parts: 1. Your dogged determination to get to the feature you wanted us to see. Your journey was appreciated! 2. The FACE. Spotted it as soon as you had it in frame. 3. The fact that you had to get up so early to show the swimming hole and waterfall due to the popularity. Would enjoy seeing the crowds frolicking there later in the day too but I know you are not a "crowds" guy, LOL. I haven't seen crowds frolicking anywhere in some time and I surprisingly miss it. :P As usual, thank you for having me along!

Seen a lot of country by virtual tagging along which I could never have the chance to enjoy from so many viewpoints. Guaranteed stunning vistas for nearly every vlog. Thanks, Tristan, very good! Yes I saw the face and it is really unique. Another exceptionally good video, and I've hiked into the falls twice but haven't been on the upper trail. Glad to see your perseverance. Also, on the Suburban. Yes it has more room, 4X4 and burns a lot of gas. I do about the same type of exploration as you and have for about 30 some years. My last really good back country car was a tricked out 4Runner and I loved it. Sold it to get a pickup for a few years of trailer towing for family camping. She got tired of camping so I happily sold pickup and trailer and bought an older Subaru Forester with racing suspension, a 2" lift and solid off road AT tires. Love the decision of being able to go where I want with snow, mud, rocks and anything else and still get 25mpg and fun of driving. I camp in the Forester much like you and it's almost perfect for me. But, I'm the only one I have to satisfy so that makes it easy. Take care, friend, may see you out there in Idaho less traveled.

I'm holding up over my head a large card with the number "10" on it. I give you a score of 10 out of 10 for grit LOL. I knew exactly what you were trying to find when I first saw the title of this video. A friend of mine, Dave Steinhouse is given credit for being the first to discover this landmark when he was a young man and he named it "Old Man of the Owyhees." There is a newspaper article about it in the Nampa Free Press back in the 1960s or 70s. I noticed you were carrying your fishing pole when you first went to Jump Falls, but then later no pole. Did you try fishing the pool at the falls??
@SUVRVing4 жыл бұрын
Huh, interesting! Thanks for the history, Charlie. I'll have to see if I can find that article somehow. Yes, I did fish the pool at the bottom and caught a dozen little native redband trout 👍

I loved this video, which really showed your personality even more than others. I’ve been watching you since you were living in utah. Pretty stubborn but persistence pays off. @tracyk.83064 жыл бұрын
Great video, Tristan! I’m amazed you scrabbled down that canyon without falling, and while holding the camera! I saw the face you found almost instantly, and the reclining figure to the left. However, did anyone see the faces to the right? Maybe I have overactive imagination, but see time-stamp 13:47, upper right corner. Two heads, one above the other. Upper head round with two bulbous eyes and beaky nose, facing slightly downward. The other head, directly below it has spiky hair, two dark tiny eyes and jagged, teethy smile. Kind of scary looking, that one!

So, something we should all understand about Tristan. He has a verbal scale for how great something actually is. While “awesome” actually is the high end of the scale, if he doesn’t laugh while saying it, it isn’t QUITE “awesome”. It’s like adding a sharp to a note to raise the pitch just a bit more. “Cool”, “sweet”, and “nice” are also a part of the scale, but the little laugh is a sign that he REALLY means it. Funny enough, “cool” is actually the bottom of the scale. If something doesn’t measure at least a “cool”, it really isn’t worth it. But - always listen to see if he laughs for emphasis. Yes - he also has a “sucks” scale, but we will save that story for another time.

Always good to use geocache coords to find what you’re looking for - because they’re everywhere. Caching has taken me to some amazing places, so it’s well-worth the $30/year for a premium membership (for those who want to try geocaching, basic membership is free, but does limit what caches are available). I hope to make it to this area on my Summer trip next year (postponed from this year due to everything closing)!

A couple of quick ideas to help you with your hiking and camping in the Northwest. Always carry a bar of "Fels Naptha" as it will cut through the poison oak and ivy so you do not have to deal with a long and itchy skin issue. Wear boots that protect your ankles as many trails have sharp rocks that you will not notice till they cut your skin. I am rebuilding my Suburban and I have already incorporated many ideas including a camp system in it so I do not have to have a trailer with me everywhere. An older 4x4 Suburban is easy to fix on the trail and much stouter than the newer ones like you were using.
