Man, I just love how Robert Plant is able to go from whispering to yelling in a matter of seconds. I love this band so damn much. The energy in this song is insane and you can hear the passion, they had everything to prove in this album. 53 years later and it still sounds amazing!

Haha, yeah, i recall one critic said once something like that Plant's voice could be the sonic equivalent of a feather floating down to a sun-lit meadow, but then turn around and instantly freeze into silence a crowd of 20,000 with a single shout of "HEY!" GOATS, GOATS, GOATS.

I think it's difficult to convey what led zeppelin were trying to achieve. They were an extremely experimental band. Their music doesn't fit into any single rock genre and they are very protective of their music.

it's not the tempo that changes, this song is at one basic tempo, about 140 beats per minute, almost from start to finish, it's Zeppelin's ability to swing the dynamics from quiet gentle and acoustic to the loudest heaviest rock so easily, that sets LZ apart. It's a feature of most of their best songs.

This is based on a folk song that Joan Baez covered, so folk is the main input here, and Zeppelin made the song about double in length by adding the hard rock instrumentals. John Bonham is soooo in the pocket with his drumming on this song. I love Plant's vocals but when Bonzo comes in on the drums it's everything. Great reaction.

We were so fortunate to grow up during this era of music. I was 11 when this came out

Not too shabby for a song from a debut album! It was just gonna get better and better. It was truly heartwarming to bump into a millennial at the grocery store with his son in the cart , wearing his Led Zeppelin shirt, and the expression on his face when he saw that I was wearing one, too!

This was originally a folk song written by Annie Bredon, and covered in the 60's by folk singer Joan Baez... Robert Plant & Jimmy Page were big fans of Joan Baez. In 1968, when Led Zeppelin first got together, they didn't have enough original songs for the first record... so they covered "Babe I'm gonna leave you" w/ re-arrangements - Robert Plant adding some lyrics and Jimmy Page giving the track a heavy riff w/ John Bonham's pounding drums. It became a stellar classic 🤘🤘🔥🔥
