They definitely deserve more recognition in the world. I'm not sure whoever is in charge, but they need more promo and press in the United States. I see a lot of unknown bands on late-night TV shows, but how come this internationally successful band that has 4.8 million KZbin subscribers has never appeared in any main stream media in the states? They even co-wrote the song "Renegades" with Ed Sheeran, but no one knows about it except some Japanese fans. Yes, they speak English as a second language but so? They can always have a translator to help with their English in the press. Taka speaks English pretty well. I mean, his communication skills are excellent. The US media only covers South Korean acts as Asian acts because, I heard that, they have been subsidized by the Korean government as cultural exports, so even a major magazine like Rolling Stone only covers K-pop as Asian acts. I have nothing against Kpop. Taka is very close to some Kpop artists. I think they are great, but I need more variety... like different genres like rock. I just hope OOR will have more promo and press in the states when the new album "Luxury Disease" is released on September 9.
@notanalien90412 жыл бұрын
Tbh, ONE OK ROCK is quite famous in Asia here even before Kpop being famous (or Hallyu/Korean Wave) hit the world. But I agreed most Kpop bands like BTS are fully-supported by their govt, so that's why most western medias covered their stories currently. They have literally one of the richest country backs them up, while underrated band like ONE OK ROCK like this are acting independently.
@LightsRoses-xe7tl2 жыл бұрын
@@notanalien9041 Yes, it makes a huge difference between one with government backing and one without. It would be nice if the Japanese government put a little effort into promoting their entertainment industry like Korea, but on the other hand, if artists are backed by the government as their cultural ambassadors, they might be restrained from publicly discussing politics or even constructive criticism about their own country, that will become taboo. That’s probably not something that OOR would like. Another thing is that, despite OOR's outspokenness about pursuing success overseas, particularly in the United States, Japanese fans don't seem to care too much about them becoming even bigger than they already are. For example, a lot of them use katakana characters, which are only read by Japanese people or people who study Japanese, have been used on social media. So it makes them look that Japanese fan base is very quiet from overseas. In other words, it's hard for non-Japanese to find OOR on social media. If more Japanese fans start using English as well as their own language on social media, OOR name will be more visible worldwide, and that will probably help them be noticed more. That’s just my thought. 🤔

The reason they don’t do promo too much in the states outside of live shows is because Rock isn’t as mainstream as it was in the early 2000s. Had One Ok Rock come over years early, they would have hit that wave that Utada was on.(even though she wasn’t commercially successful, she still had write ups in American magazines, her music was played on the radio, and music video was played on MTV.) They are very well known in the underground rock scene. I actually went into a goth music store today and they had their new album. I also went to their New York show years ago when they weren’t even signed in America and the show was sold out, with the line wrapped around the venue going on for blocks... lol

Go, oh, go) Why’d you let me let you go? [Verse 1] Bullets in the dark Shootin’ through my hesitating heart We were never gonna go far 離れる気なんてなかったのに ‘Cause I’m no good at loving someone as good as you 君みたいに上手に人を愛せなくて Look what I put you through I know I can’t undo this I’m black and blue to tell the truth 実は言うと、(精神的、肉体的共に)すごく痛くて苦しいんだ (black and blue 打撲で青黒くなった 、あざができるほど殴打する ) [Chorus] It’s breakin’ me, I’m not just losin’ you ボロボロだよ、ただ君を失うだけでなく I’m losin’ what you saw in me Why’d you let me let you go? I can’t breathe without you here I wish you’d never watch me leave Why’d you let me let you- どうしてこうなってしまったんだろう [Drop] Go, oh, go Why’d you let me let you go? [Verse 2] Wish you made me stay Wish you didn’t let me run away Guess you knew that I would never change 僕が決して変わらないことを君は知っていたんだと思う ‘Cause I’m no good at lying to someone as good as you 君のように上手に嘘をつけないから Look what I put you through I know I can’t undo this I’m black and blue to tell the truth 実は言うと、(精神的、肉体的共に)すごく痛くて苦しいんだ (black and blue 打撲で青黒くなった 、あざができるほど殴打する ) [Chorus] It’s breakin’ me, I’m not just losin’ you ボロボロだよ、ただ君を失うだけでなく I’m losin’ what you saw in me Why’d you let me let you go? I can’t breathe without you here I wish you’d never watch me leave Why’d you let me let you- どうしてこうなってしまったんだろう [Drop] Go, oh, go Why’d you let me let you go? [Bridge] I tried, I tried to love you 君を愛そうとしたんだ I swear I tried 誓ってそう But how can I love you if you’re not here? I tried, I tried to love you 君を愛そうとしたんだ I swear I tried 誓ってそう I tried, I tried to love [Chorus] It’s breakin’ me, I’m not just losin’ you I’m losin’ what you saw in me Why’d you let me let you go? I can’t breathe without you here I wish you’d never watch me leave Why’d you let me let you- どうしてこうなってしまったんだろう [Drop] Go, oh, go Why’d you let me let you go? Go, oh, go Why’d you let me let you go?

The best thing I had during pandemic is finding this talented band. Absolutely one of the best live bands I’ve ever seen. And they dropped this new song OMG I really need to see them live before I die instead of just sitting and watching them in front of screen.

I just saw them open for Muse last night in Montreal, they were fantastic. There was a guy sitting right behind me who was drunk and booing them loudly and I wanted to punch his lights out so badly.
