Hammer tells it like it is. Our game is in serious trouble between slots and now sports betting. There's no new blood coming in to bet on horse racing. Thank you Johnathan for another great show.

I like hammer's comments about teaching people to read the form. When i started getting into horse racing a lot of the videos I watched were full of racing terms with hardly any explanation and if they did explain it was with other horse racing terminology. What finally made the light bulb turn on was reading byers books. If you don't have a mentor finding good information is fairly hard.

i agree with your comment. i bet a little years ago and just started again this summer. i watch a live show and the chatters are putting their tickets in the chat. it's a different ball game to me. i'm thinking, so this is how better bettors make tickets. there is still more to learn but picking up bits and pieces from more experienced bettors makes the curve less steep. as they said in the video, management does a poor job with the newbys.

Finally somebody told the truth 40+ years experience and I see the same thing he’s been seeing. We all know who this Group is involved. You do have one option , let them take other people’s time and money on the other hand there is racing in certain jurisdictions that still resemble the Game we love.

The game does not exist without gamblers period! I'm 53, been playing professionally 30 years now. I believe my age is the last that will play the game! Hammer is correct, most of the small tracks are on welfare to keep it going!

John, your questions were better than his answers. It’s hard to feature a “professional gambler” who believes in things like having a lucky $10 bill.

1:09:00. Agree Kentucky is the last man standing in about 10 years. Problems are the gambling there will suck just as bad as it does today.

Finally someone spoke up about the games the ortiz brothers play at track . The stewards allow them to get away with way to much.

This guy "the Hammer" is the "Debbie Downer" of horse racing, Jonathan is probably the best and most knowledgeable and obviously loves horse racing and the people involved in this great sport. Check out Jon's body language, he can't wait for this interview to end....

I appreciate this guy's comments and he makes some good points but I totally disagree with his point on NYRA. New York to me runs the purest races to the numbers. It's not "bombs away". A handicapper can play NY and grind out a daily profit handicapping speed figures. I do better in NY then any other track. Gulf stream forget it, it's bombs away or the flavor of the week jockey riding in 2/5 favorites
