I dont know why people are so surprised, japanese music has been always amazing and they literally dominated before kpop, city-pop says hi. The only reason they didnt globalize was because they didnt promote much especially for overseas fans , they were mostly kept for Japan entertainment industry, (japanese websites), hopefully in a future China will do the same
